The Class of 2022 attained the best set of A-level results in recent years! Despite being the cohort that went through their JC years under the shadow of the pandemic, and transiting to the easing of measures, the Class of 2022 showed much grit and tenacity in the face of challenges. Today, they have done themselves proud by excelling in many areas.
At TJC, we do not take your success for granted. Whether you join us as an IP or JC student, we are eager to work with you to ignite your passion and discover the best within you. More importantly, we are heartened that TJCians are leaders of integrity and upright character. And we believe that they will inspire their juniors towards Temasek Excellence as well.
Let’s meet some well-rounded achievers of the Class of 2022!

As the Vice-Chairperson of the JC Symphonic Band, she put much time and effort into honing her skills. The experience gained helped her grow not just as a musician, but as an individual. She participated actively in every musical performance the Band was involved in, such as HeARTS@TJC Concert, Performing Arts Cultural Education Showcase and the Singapore Youth Festival, where the Band achieved a Certificate of Distinction. Phoebe also seized opportunities to hone her leadership skills by participating in the Talent Development Programme, Masterclass for Music CCA leaders and the Mazarin leadership programme.

With their intellectual ambition and tenacity, Regina and Siau Tan have indeed done TJC proud. Regina attained 7 Distinctions at the A Levels while Siau Tan scored 6 Distinctions. We hope that they continue pursuing their passions and giving back to their community!
Our pioneering batch of H2 Computing students dared to tread the path less taken towards a brighter future in today's digital world. The comprehensive coverage of theoretical and practical concepts enabled them to apply logical reasoning and problem-solving skills to real-world scenarios. They also explored cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and coding and honed their ability to manipulate and analyse data in innovative ways.
Wong Jac Qin (03/21), a proud recipient of the Singapore Management University (SMU) Computing Award, earned advanced placement opportunities at SMU and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He consistently clinched either the Second or Third position in the team event at the National School Games Taekwondo Championships in 2021 and 2022. His sporting achievements and exceptional character earned him the prestigious SSSC Colours Award twice, in 2021 and 2022.

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure” – Colin Powell.
Indeed many TJCians from the Class of 2022 embody the determination and resilience that carried them through the pandemic and to success at the A-levels. In particular, Jermaine Ang (18/21), who had to face an even more challenging task when she repeated her JC1 year.
“Repeating was definitely tough. While my peers went on to JC2, I felt ‘stuck’ back in JC1 and it made me question myself. I was afraid that the new year would simply be a repeat of the last, as my mental health suffered. Another challenge was making new friends as I'm not a very social person,” shared Jermaine.
However, she remained undaunted and during the December holidays, she tried her best to catch up by reviewing all the lecture notes and ensuring that she understood each concept. She felt that this prepared her well in tutorials as she could spend more time listening to her tutors more closely. She also began to clarify her doubts and homework became more manageable. On top of this, she felt that her tutors and new friends were a great encouragement to her.
For Jermaine, the quote "all sunshine makes a desert" resonates strongly. “While the sun provides light for plants, rain is necessary for them to grow too. In this case, failure is simply a part of growing. What’s more important is to understand why you failed, think objectively and then approach the matter from a different perspective.”
Jermaine’s grit and hard work earned her Distinctions in all four content subjects including Art. With new-found confidence, she also participated in the UOB Painting of the Year, Singapore Youth Festival and various concerts as a Symphonic Band member, as well as Mazarin Project Rain which collaborated with Causes for Animals Singapore.
Every year, we have the privilege of welcoming JAE students who choose TJC for their junior college experience. Like the IP students, they too enjoy ample opportunities to excel both academically and in their CCAs. This year, JAE students have once again made the college proud by achieving stellar grades and developing themselves holistically.
Brina Lai (01/21) achieved more than 85 RP and a distinction in H3 Geography. Not only has she excelled in her studies, but Brina has also been an indispensable student leader. As Student Council Vice President and TDSS Executive Committee Member, Brina represented her peers in the International Student Leadership Congress and a dialogue with Ambassador-at-Large Mr. Ong Keng Yong. Keen on fostering a close-knit culture within the school, Brina led the DSA Mentoring Programme to help peers assimilate better into the College and was also part of the Orientation 2022 Organising Committee.

Tran Gia Linh excelled in her CCA pursuits and scored 6 Distinctions for her 'A' levels.
The TJC Integrated Programme has grown from strength to strength over the years. Each year, many bright-eyed 12-year olds have come on board this journey with us; with many more leaving with lifelong friends, a string of accolades and fondest memories of this place they have called home for 6 years. They are indeed our pride and joy as we watch them mature into young ladies and gentlemen.
Niqhil Julio bin Nazri (05/21) and Lan En Yu (16/21) are two of such IP students who have a zest for life and achieved all-round excellence. As the Students’ Council’s Project Director, Niqhil was part of the organizing committee for Orientation, and a Facilitator for the International Student Leadership Congress as well as Temasek Leadership Showdown. On top of this, he found time to be involved in two other CCAs – volleyball and Malay Cultural Society.
In addition, Niqhil represented the college in various Mathematics competitions, the Prudential Young Trailblazers competition and the Challenge for the Urban and Built Environment (CUBE) where his team came in first. Armed with great time management skills, he took on the role of Vice-Chairperson of YMCA Youth for Causes Project Wonder and participated in cheer competitions as well.
En Yu was the Vice-Captain of the college badminton girls’ team. An exemplary leader, she was instrumental in building team spirit amongst the players and was a well-respected player on and off the court. En Yu’s intellectual pursuits saw her represent the college in the Chemistry Olympiad and her selection for the Temasek Internship Programme. She also stepped up as a Facilitator for the Student Leadership Camp, further honing her leadership skills. En Yu’s active participation in contributing back to society inspired her to get involved in the Badminton VIA and to take on the role of Vice-Chairperson of YMCA Youth for Causes Project Cherie, where they collaborated with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Both Niqhil and En Yu went on to score 6 Distinctions.
At TJC, we believe in all our students and we take care of each and everyone of you. No matter your challenges, we will journey with you and support you to be the best versions of yourselves. In the Temasek family, no one is left behind.
Class of 2021
“Leadership is an action, not a position.”
Indeed, our TJ student leaders demonstrate everyday leadership in their words and deeds, as they juggle their academic commitments with their various leadership responsibilities.
Sheak Hoy Yip, President of the 44th Students’ Council and Teo Jia Xin, Vice-President of the 44th Students’ Council from the Class of 2021, have capably led their cohort through the most difficult phases of the pandemic. With their resolute determination and dexterity in adapting to the ever-evolving situation, they have ensured that their cohort continue to have a unique TJ experience through leading events such as Orientation, Student Leadership Camp and Temasek Leadership Showdown.
Hoy Yip went on to score 7 Distinctions while Jia Xin scored 6 Distinctions at the 2021 A-levels.
Behind every set of A-level results lies a great deal of hard work. Throw in a few road humps and the journey can sometimes get a little bumpy. Just ask Darryl Yeng from the Class of 2021, who had to repeat his JC1 year.
Darryl who initially struggled with time management and the rigour of the A-level subjects, found himself lagging behind and eventually turned in a somewhat dismal performance at the Promotional Exams. To support these ‘under-performers’, the college invited an alumnus who also repeated and who did well at the A-levels to share his experience. This was when Darryl believed it was possible to bounce back.
“I really channeled the disappointment I felt towards working harder and aiming higher. And of course I had support from amazing tutors and friends from TJ past and present.”
At the same time, Darryl ensured that he had an enriching campus life. He immersed himself in Outdoor Adventure Club activities, organizing events like Temasek Titans and participating in and placing 1st at the National Orienteering Race team event; he was also an Orientation Group Leader and a Temasek Leadership Showdown facilitator. Darryl, who went on to score a perfect UAS 90, plans to study computer science.
Mention the joy of learning, and our lively bunch of Humanities students comes to mind! Indeed our signature Temasek Humanities Program (THP) has always ignited their passion for the Humanities, as they put on multiple lenses with confidence and aplomb.
Tania Tan, an MOE Humanities Scholarship Program (HSP) holder from the Class of 2021, immersed herself in many activities and competitions, such as organizing the annual HumaniTEA@TJC, and together with her peers, initiated the ‘Sign of the TJmes’ project, where they captured significant locations on campus with creative artwork and captions. They also represented TJC and won the Most Popular Video Choice Award with their HSP Video.
Charlotte Lee collaborated with other THP students in hosting the annual Temasek Distinguished Speaker Series in 2020. The team worked under tremendous pressure as they had to pivot to a virtual platform, but they rose above the challenges and successfully hosted Minister Grace Fu on the topic of climate change. On top of this, Charlotte was the dynamic Alpha House Captain! Charlotte went on to score 5 Distinctions while Tania scored 6.
We are very proud of these awesome ambassadors of Humanities@TJC – our 13 HSP scholars scored an impressive median UAS 87.6 (out of a possible 90) while our THP students also shone with a median UAS 87.
Many of our athletes excel on and off the courts – Prithvi Majal and Chen Liang Jung from the Class of 2021 epitomize this tenacity and spirit of excellence.
Prithvi Majal, Captain of the Badminton Boys’ team, would put in extra hours to maintain his fitness and strength. He also stepped up as an Orientation Group Leader and a Defy Camp Facilitator, in addition to participating in the Mathematics Olympiad.
Liang Jung, Captain of the Table Tennis Boys’ team, is a focused and determined sportsman who set a good example for his peers. In addition, he was selected for the Temasek Internship Program where he was attached to Art Agenda S.E.A., an art consultancy which provides collecting and curatorial services for Southeast Asian art. Liang Jung, who is also a creative maestro, went on to score an A in H2 Art.
Like many of our athletes from the Class of 2021, both Prithvi and Liang Jung demonstrate unwavering dedication and resilience despite the premature cancellation of the National School Games. Both young men also achieved a perfect score of UAS 90.
TJCians have always gone the extra mile to show their care for the community, especially through the Mazarin Community Leadership Program. Elias Aljoofri and Erin Joy Thevathasan from the Class of 2021 are two Mazariners who have initiated such meaningful projects.
Elias was the Leader of Team Ala Carte, which focused on raising awareness of the issue of plastic waste. Besides touching base with National Environment Agency and Zero Waste SG, the team promoted Zero Waste Sunday, conducted a sharing session with Bedok Green Secondary School’s Environmental Club and initiated a BYOttle campaign in TJC.
Erin’s Mazarin Team Elpis showed much resilience as they had to look for another social service agency midway through their project, but Erin and her teammates were resolute in focusing on their aim of inspiring disadvantaged primary school children to achieve their dreams. Eventually they collaborated with Care Community Services Society Singapore and raised almost $3,000.
Indeed, Erin and Elias embody TJ’s culture of care as they have contributed much of their time and effort in making a difference to those around them. In all, our Mazariners have done the college proud with their meaningful projects, and scoring a median UAS 88.75 at the A-levels! Erin and Elias both achieved perfect scores and Elias has been awarded the Public Service Commission scholarship on top of this.
The TJC Music Elective Program (MEP) is simply brimming with talent, as our young prodigies bring with them so much passion and their individual musical gifts. All our MEP maestros from the Class of 2021 scored Distinctions in H2 Music!
Amongst them is Wong Jun Yan, who is an accomplished musician who often dazzled with his performances on a variety of instruments. As Student Conductor of the TJ Symphonic Band, he capably led his bandmates to a Certificate of Distinction at the 2021 Singapore Youth Festival.

The IP Class of 2021 continued to do the college and themselves proud – they achieved a median UAS 86.6 and 1 in 4 scoring a perfect UAS 90. More importantly, our IP students are all-rounders with a zest for life. Let’s meet Low Hwee Keng, Saripalli Bhagat Sai Reddy and Wong Yock Yan.

She was placed 3rd in the NSG Poomsae ‘A’ Division Girls in both the individual and team events. She was also committed to the Community Laboratory Program as well as the Temasek Local Outreach Program.
The pandemic may have floored all ‘live’ performances, but our Performing Arts students did not let that dampen their passion. A group of student leaders from various Performing Arts CCAs from the Class of 2021 came together to create a Performing Arts and Cultural Education (PACE) showcase, which offered a virtual platform for students to put up performances, ensuring that the arts scene in TJC remain vibrant.
Megan Tan, Chairperson of this PACE showcase, was an exemplary leader in bringing the event to life. As Chairperson of the Guitar Ensemble, she led her troupe to a Certificate of Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival. Megan was selected for the TJC STEM Academy, and she participated in the Singapore Biology Olympiad, Lee Kong Chian Medicine Anatomy Challenge and won Best Presentation at the NUS Youth Health Ambassador Programme. Megan went on to score 8 Distinctions.
John Ethan Prince Asuncion Roy was also in the organizing committee of PACE. He brought his musicality and positive energy, ensuring that the showcase was a success. Ethan was Chairman of the JC Choir and even though they could not participate in SYF, they continued to spread their love for music by creating various music videos. Ethan was also the Assistant Class Chairman as well as an Orientation Group Leader and he achieved 5 Distinctions.
Not only was the Class of 2021 committed to their academic pursuits, they have participated in platforms such as the Citi-YMCA Youth for Causes program, a community initiative to promote social entrepreneurship and community leadership development among Singapore youths. This includes seed funding, training and volunteer mentorship for executing self-initiated projects to raise public awareness, funds and mobilize volunteers for social service agencies of their choice.
Elvin Lim, Leader of Team Ciel, collaborated with CampusImpact and worked with a local influencer to create a series of podcasts and videos to cater to less-privileged children by meaningfully engaging them during the Circuit Breaker. Team Ciel also mobilized volunteers to design and sell merchandise, raising more than $22,000, and earning the 2020 YFC Distinction Award. Elvin, who scored 4 Distinctions, has even stepped up as Vice-Chairman of the YFC Alumni Committee.
Cheryl Lee of Team Ex-Corde, collaborated with Canossaville Children and Community Services to sell merchandise to raise funds such as Friendship Day items, raising over $4,200. Cheryl, who scored 7 Distinctions, has continued to mentor three YFC teams in 2021.
Outstanding students in TJC are placed in the Talent Development Program (TDP), the College’s pinnacle leadership program to prepare high ability students for top-tier scholarships and university courses. Here, students have the opportunity to build their portfolio, in addition to sharpening their skills in interviews and designing personal statements. More importantly, they get to participate in various dialogues with public service officers and other dignitaries, as well as network with our established alumni through the Temasek Talent Network.
