Our Mathematics curriculum will lead students to acquire mathematical concepts and skills to support their tertiary studies in the various fields. Students who are interested to pursue a course in business or social sciences can offer H1 Mathematics. Students who aspire to study Mathematics or mathematics-related courses in university should offer H2 Mathematics, and if possible, H3 Mathematics. Students who are keen to pursue engineering could offer ‘double mathematics’, that is, H2 Mathematics and H2 Further Mathematics.
Let's hear what our students have to say about their learning experiences for Mathematics at TJC!
Studying H2 Mathematics was an enjoyable experience for me, as the tutors have been really supportive, in every step of the way. They are clear in their explanations, and would ask questions to rectify any misconceptions that we may have.
Additionally, the tutors have curated a series of resources, such as the Math Secret Manual (MSM) and revision worksheets, to cater to students who have different levels of mastery in the specific topics. Personally, this has helped me grasp concepts in my weaker topics better, while honing higher-level problem solving skills for my stronger topics.
The tutors also leveraged on Google Classroom, as well as the Student Learning Space (SLS), which allow us to learn content, submit assignments and receive feedback in an effective manner.
Nearing A-Levels, the tutors would also hold topical revision lectures to ensure that we are familiar with the question types and problem solving techniques, which has helped me consolidate what I have learnt better.

Hey J1s,
In H2 Mathematics, there will be two 3-hour papers, each carrying 50% of the total mark. Paper 1 will be purely based on Pure Mathematics while Paper 2 consists of two sections, Section A which focuses on Pure Math and Section B which focuses on Statistics.
Here in TJC, it will be delivered in a lecture-tutorial style. Do listen attentively in lectures and do your tutorials diligently. The Math tutors are very caring and will be willing to give you consultations so do consult them if necessary. In addition, there will be a lot of resources available to help you in your preparation for the A-Level, so fret not!
Finally, if you want to develop your mathematical thinking and reasoning skills, if you want to master a subject that is relevant to other disciplines and the real world, then come and take up H2 Mathematics! (:

H1 Mathematics @TJC
H1 Mathematics provides students with a foundation in mathematics and statistics that will support their business or social sciences studies at the university. It offers an opportunity for students to learn important mathematical concepts and skills in algebra and calculus. Students will also learn basic statistical methods that are necessary for studies in business and social sciences.
H2 Mathematics is designed to prepare students for a range of university courses, including mathematics, sciences, engineering and related courses, where a good foundation in mathematics is required. It develops mathematical thinking and reasoning skills that are essential for further learning of mathematics. Through the applications of mathematics, students also develop an appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to the real world.
H3 Mathematics is designed for students with the passion and ability in mathematics. It aims to engage students who are keen to specialize in mathematics in solving more challenging problems in mathematics and proving mathematical results. Students will learn useful techniques and results, related to the content in H2 Mathematics, to solve mathematical problems and prove mathematical statements. In the course of learning, students will develop an understanding of the rigour of mathematics and mathematical proof and a deeper insight into the practice, value and beauty of mathematics.
Students have the opportunities to take part in a wide variety of competitions, both world-wide and local. Examples of world-wide competitions are the Australian Mathematics Competition, the American Mathematics Competition, International Math Modeling Competition (Singapore) and TI Shanghai Cup. Examples of local competitions are the Singapore Mathematics Olympiad, Singapore Statistical Poster Competition, the Designing with TI Graphing Calculators competition, Singapore Mathematics Society Essay Competition and interest-based competitions such as the Rubik’s Cube Competition.
