The Temasek Junior College Guitar Ensemble has grown in strength and skill over the years. It has consistently maintained a high standard of excellence, driven by the dedication and passion of its students and conductors.
The TJC Guitar Ensemble achieved many accolades over the years, including the Certificate of Distinction in the 2019, 2021 and 2023 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation. Comprising members who play differently pitched Niibori guitars to achieve an orchestra effect, the ensemble aims to promote a love for guitar ensemble music among its audiences.
TJC guitarists learn diverse pieces, from classical music to pop tunes, and are given opportunities to showcase them in various performances. These include the ensemble’s annual public-ticketed concert ‘Aurora’, the inter-school Guitar Ensemble Festival, SYF Arts Presentation, and various College events such as Open House and National Day celebrations. In 2022, the ensemble put up our inaugural virtual concert, ‘Aurora XXIV: Renaissance’. The concert featured themes of self-discovery, rebirth, and transformation. The ensemble was also invited to perform at the 2022 Bedok National Day Dinner as part of the Bedok constituency’s National Day celebrations. The ensemble performed various folk tunes as well as a medley of popular NDP theme songs over the years. The performances were well-received and the ensemble had a blast performing for the Bedok residents!
Besides performances, TJC guitarists also bond over games and food during the annual Guitar Camp and give back to the community through its Values-In-Action projects. Ultimately, TJC Guitar Ensemble is more than just performing. It is about creating unforgettable memories and sharing the passion for music together as one Guitar family.
We have practices twice a week on Monday & Wednesday, 4.30pm to 7pm (please note that this may be subject to changes).
