CAHMS

CAMHS stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. These services work with children and young people and their parents or carers. NHS Lothian CAMHS provides specialist assessment/intervention as part of a tiered system, which can include consultation and advice prior to referral, and assessment appointment to establish clinical need and priority status.

Scottish Association for Mental Health

SAMH are a mental health charity. Their website has lots of information on mental health issues, self help and supporting others.

Young Minds

Young Minds is a service aimed at young people. On their website they have information about a number of issues affecting young people. You can also access a text helpline.

They currently have a section corona virus mental health support section.

Child line offer a free private and confidential service where you can talk about anything.
You can call them or go on their website to find out information about different ways to contact them. They also have lots of advice on issues such as bullying, relationships and many more topics.

Breathing Space

Free, confidential, phone service for anyone in Scotland over the age of 16 experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety. They are there in times of difficulty to provide a safe and supportive space by listening, offering advice and providing information.

Samaritans

Samaritans are there day or night for anyone who is struggling to cope.

You can phone their helpline or visit their website for support for yourself and advice on how to help others.

The Mix

The Mix is specifically for under 25's.

The Mix is the UK’s leading support service for young people. We are here to help you take on any challenge you’re facing - from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job, from break-ups to drugs. Talk to us via our online community, on social, through our free, confidential helpline or our counselling service.

Mood Juice

This site is designed to help you think about emotional problems and work towards solving them. Emotional problems are often the mind and body’s way of saying that something needs to be changed in our life. .

The Calm

The calm deals with suicide. They offer support for anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts and aim to raise awareness about suicide.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this.

Mind

Mind offer information and support for anyone struggling with mental health problems. They also have a support section for if you are worried about someone else. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Shout 85258 is a free, confidential, anonymous text support service. You can text from wherever you are in the UK.

They can help with: Depression, Anxiety, Abuse, Panic Attacks, Suicidal Thoughts, Self Harm, Relationship Problems and Bullying

Your Mind Matters

Your Mind Matters is a partnership project between Royal Caledonian Education Trust (RCET) and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health). Your Mind Matters has received funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust to better understand and respond effectively to a range of unique challenges children and young people of serving Armed Forces personnel and veteran families across Scotland face with regard to mental health and wellbeing.

Beat - Eating Disorders

Beat is focussed on eating disorders. The website offers information on different types of eating disorders and offers different supports to help deal with them.

Kooth

Kooth offers emotional and mental health support for children and young people aged between 11 – 24 years and is available up to 10pm every day.

They are an online community which you can sign up to to access discussion boards, helplines and a journal tool.

Penumbra

Penumbra is one of Scotland’s largest mental health charities. We support around 1800 adults and young people every week and employ 400 staff across Scotland.

They provide a wide range of services which offer hope and practical steps towards recovery, and we campaign to increase public knowledge about mental health and to influence national and local government policy.

Students against depression has lots of useful information about depression and anxiety. They have an "I am feeling" section that allows you to access information about how and why you might be feeling the way you are.
