Videos may be shown for instructional purposes only and must be documented in lesson plans.
You must request and receive written permission from the principal to show any outside videos -- just listing a video in your lesson plans is not enough. Be sure to state how the video is related to what is being covered in that class.
The use of full length movies is extremely rare, and movies should not be shown as time fillers. Preview all videos.
Videos that are available online through MISD supported subscriptions do not require prior permission from the principal, but must be documented in lesson plans.
Be sure to preview the information in the video, ensure that the subject matter is relevant to what is being taught, and communicate how the video will enhance instruction of the concept.
Send the nurse a copy of the parent permission slip with the list of ingredients one week prior to sending it home. Reminder-We are allowed to only serve one food item of non-nutritional value at a party and the non-nutritional food item can not be served during the students' breakfast or lunch time.
Classrooms may have 3 holiday parties (school-wide) per year: Winter Holiday, Valentines Day and End of the Year Party. Valentine Parties will include students opening their cards and a game or craft and snack.
Do not hang crape paper, balloons or items from the ceiling when decorating for parties or themes. Please make sure your room mom and/or PTA is aware of this rule.
Specific dates to parties are listed on the Campus Google Calendar.
The PTA will recruit a room parent who will coordinate the parties with your assistance if needed. Parties should occur at the same time as other members’ on your grade level team.
Each grade level will have a "theme" for their EOY party. The room parents will have communication given to them at their BOY meeting. The EOY party information will include the menu and the parent permission form with the food labels that will be sent home prior to the party.
Additional parties or celebrations must be approved by the principal.
