Announcements

All students and teachers are expected to stop, look and listen to all announcements. 

 Announcements begin at approximately 8:05 each morning. Per state guidelines, the pledges are said at 8:10 am. Students who arrive at school after announcements begin will be expected to go directly to the classroom and not go to their locker until after the announcements are over.

Safety Patrol students should be in their classroom seats by 8:05 am to hear announcements.  Morning carpool duty will dismiss safety patrol to their classrooms at 8:00 am.

If you, a student, a class, or an organization you sponsor need to have an announcement made, please email your announcement and graphic to the Library Media Specialist (LMS) at least 24 hours prior to time the announcement needs to be made.  

Mindful Monday -  Mindful Monday is presented by the school counselor, reminding staff and students how strategies can help us cope and regulate emotions.  Helpful breathing strategies are practiced school-wide along with problem-solving tips.

"Way to Go Wednesday"- "Way to Go Wednesday" is a student incentive program recognizing good behavior. When you see someone doing the right thing, you may reward them with a yellow ticket.  Student’s name and teacher’s name should be written on the back of the ticket. We will award two students per week from each class.  Any staff member may reward a student with a "Way to Go Wednesday" ticket.

Every Wednesday, choose two tickets from your bucket, send those students to the office to claim their prize right after morning announcements with their ticket in hand.

You can get more tickets from the office clerk anytime you need more.

Marvelous Maverick- Marvelous Maverick is a staff recognition award.  It will be announced on the Friday morning announcements.  The previous week's recipient will present the award to any McGowen peer.  Both staff members will be on the live announcements to announce the next Marvelous Maverick recipient.

Student Birthday Pencils- Birthdays are shared every day.  Weekend birthdays are shared on announcements the Friday before.  Students should come to the front office to get their birthday pencil on the day their birthday is announced on live announcements.  Announce crew should remind students to go right after announcements to get their birthday pencil.

Book Vending Machine Award- For this Friday announcement, Teachers complete the certificate for students who consistently follow the character traits, or have made growth on academic or behavior goals. One certificate from each grade level is chosen on live morning announcements on Friday. Students come to the foyer (vestibule) to get their token to get their free book after announcements. The grade level bins to drop off the certificates are in the green room (announcement room) off of the Learning Commons.
