Teachers are expected to sit/stand among the students, maintain order and model appropriate audience behavior. Teachers should review and practice MAVS Live Kind in Assembly expectations with their class.
The Mav Fan Jams are a monthly celebration held on the last Friday of each month to recognize students who have done an outstanding job of demonstrating the character trait of the month and build community within our school.
The certificates will be pre-printed by the office clerk and signed with a space for each teacher to write the student's first and last name. Teachers will choose 2-3 students to receive the Most Valuable Maverick (MVM) award for each monthly assembly.
To prepare the award presentation, you will use Google Slides and upload the students’ names and photos into your teacher slides per LMS instructions by the due date specified by LMS. Please make sure you use a readable font and check the spelling and picture before the due date.
If you are worried about whether or not a student is listed on FERPA, please ask the registrar. If you would still like to recognize a FERPA student, please contact the parent and get permission to post the student's name without a picture.
Please notify parents a week in advance to inform them that their child will be receiving an award. Please see your staff calendar for an exact listing of monthly dates.
Please make sure your parents have knowledge of the monthly character traits and understand the process for how their child can earn the MVM. Monthly character traits will be discussed on morning announcements, integrated into the Kindness Confetti awards, and should also be communicated in the grade-level weekly newsletter/email.
Also, remember that once you submit award recipients’ names, it is very difficult to change them in the presentation. As a result, please choose your award winners carefully! However, if the selected student has demonstrated negative behaviors that do not align with the character trait that he/she is being recognized for, please contact an administrator to discuss making a change. For example, it would not be appropriate for a child who has been caught stealing to be recognized the next week for trustworthiness.
