Trauma and Mental Health Informed Schools Award

At Maesgwyn we know that life isn't always perfect. Things can happen in a child or young persons life that throw them off kilter; resulting in them struggling to regulate.

At Maesgwyn we support our pupils using trauma informed approaches that aim to regulate through teaching them to identify their feelings and allowing them time to explore self-regulation strategies.

We recognise behaviour is a communication of emotion; therefore we have updated our Behaviour Policy to a Relationship Policy that focuses on four areas; PROTECT all pupils, allowing them the opportunities to REGULATE their emotions while providing them with time to REFLECT on their emotions and actions. All this is based on a foundation of developing positive RELATIONSHIPS with all people in the school community.
