Mathematics and Numeracy is delivered in Maths lessons and focused Numeracy lessons following the National Numeracy Framework.
Mathematics is an international discipline, and numeracy, the application of mathematics, plays a critical part in our private, social and civic lives, and in the economic health of the nation.
In KS3, pupils have access to a rich and varied range of Maths activities and topics differentiated at an appropriate level.
We strive to ensure all learners develop key skills such as: number recognition, counting skills, division and multiplication knowledge, and develop in topics such as: data handling, money, time, problem solving, position and direction, fractions and angles, among many more.
Maths lessons have a practical approach and we have a large bank of physical resources to support learning.
Engaging projects are used to encourage enthusiastic pupils such as our 'Freak-shake' project undertaken for the topic of Mass and Capacity .
In KS4 learners apply the skills they have developed in KS3 to complete a range of Maths Qualifications at appropriate levels. Whilst still accessing their qualifications pupils are also involved in engaging mini projects and tasks to support their enthusiasm and development of Maths and Numeracy.
