Perspective Snowman

This lesson will be good for our 1st grade students, and perhaps K would like to try the lesson too. Students will be drawing a snowman - but with a difference. Our snowman is very close to the viewer so he is big, so big that he doesn't fit on the paper!

We will also see the horizon and a tree in the background. The tree is small and is close to the horizon so we can tell it is far away. Our fun snowman will reinforce students' knowledge of perspective, as well as skills with line and shape.

Supplies students will need are:

  • white paper, pencil and eraser

  • crayons, including a white crayon, or oil pastels

  • watercolor paint (if available)
