Winter Cardinal

Our first seasonal project - a beautiful red cardinal sitting on a snowy branch in a pine tree.

For this lesson, you will need:

  • white paper

  • pencil and eraser or black Sharpie to draw with

  • color - I used oil pastels and watercolor paint. I like the vibrancy of the oil pastel's color particularly for the cardinal but you can also use crayons and colored pencils. If you use colored pencils, be aware that the resist technique for the snow will not work with colored pencils.

The lesson is broken down into 3 videos, to allow time for coloring in between each stage.

Total time for the lesson will be 60-90 minutes.

Below the lesson are a couple of videos for anyone who wants to see cardinals or learn a little more about them.
