Autumn Scarecrows

Scarecrows!  Scarecrows are used to stop the birds destroying crops - to scare away the crows...  They're made from old clothes, often stuffed with straw and put in a field or wherever needed to protect the crops.   We think of scarecrows along with fall themes as this is when the crops - fruit, vegetables etc - are the most tempting to the birds!

There are 3 different lessons on this page, each with a different level of difficulty - students car try whichever they feel most comfortable with.

All the lessons require need white paper and a pencil or marker to draw with.  For color, I used crayons and watercolor paints but you could also use just crayons, colored pencil, markers, oil pastel or a combination.

Scarecrow #1

This is the easiest of the three scarecrow lessons - good for TK and K students.

Scarecrow #2

This scarecrow drawing is good for K and 1st grade students, a little more challenging than Scarecrow #1 but not too difficult!

And I added pumpkins to the video version.

Scarecrow #3

This is the most challenging of the 3 scarecrow lessons but 2nd grade students should be fine with this.  I'm sure they're read for the challenge!
