Personalized math practice, skill building, and growth tracking—right at your fingertips.
Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, Lake Travis ISD is launching IXL, a powerful online platform that supports student learning across math, language arts, and select science and social studies courses.
Strengthen skills we are learning in class
Identify and close learning gaps
Provide enrichment and challenge opportunities
Support Accelerated Instruction under HB 1416
IXL is an adaptive learning platform that personalizes math practice for every student. It offers:
📌 Targeted skill practice aligned to Texas TEKS
🧠 Real-time diagnostics to measure understanding and growth
🔁 Adaptive learning paths that adjust based on performance
✅ Instant feedback and step-by-step explanations for every question
📊 Progress tracking and student-friendly data dashboards
♿ Accessibility features such as audio support, language translation, and flexible time settings
When students log in to IXL, they will have access to:
⭐️ "Diagnostic Arena" – A smart, ongoing assessment that gives students a real-time snapshot of their skill level across multiple topics
🧩 "Recommendations" – Personalized skill suggestions based on diagnostic results or recent practice
📝 "Teacher-Assigned Skills" – Practice activities directly tied to what we're learning in class
🎯 Progress bars showing how close you are to mastery in each skill
🏅 SmartScore – A dynamic score out of 100 that reflects your current level of understanding for each skill
In this course, IXL will be used to:
Reinforce daily instruction through assigned skill practice
Address any gaps in foundational knowledge
Support test prep and unit reviews
Monitor progress and set quarterly growth goals
Provide enrichment and challenge beyond grade level
You’ll use IXL:
✅ In class during independent work or warm-ups
💻 At home for practice, review, or skill building
📅 Each quarter to meet specific skill and time-based goals
To support math growth, our district requires all students to complete 40 minutes of IXL each week. Here’s how that time is structured and what’s expected:
30 Minutes → Must come from teacher-assigned skills (or recommended assignments).
10 Minutes → Must be spent in the IXL Arena for extra practice and fluency.
The target score on every assignment is an 80 Smart Score or higher.
Once you’ve reached an 80, you can click out of the skill and move on to another assignment.
The system will not automatically kick you out—you’ll need to make the choice to switch once you’ve met the goal.
Dive into this interactive slide deck to discover everything you need to know about using IXL effectively. You’ll learn how to:
Navigate assigned skills and personalized recommendations
Understand progress tracking, diagnostics, and smart scoring
Set goals and make the most of IXL as a daily study tool
Whether you’re new to IXL or looking to get more out of it, this quick training will help you practice smarter and grow confidently.
