Process

Step 1: Getting logged into Schoology

  1. Using a web browser go to: loomiswolves.schoology.com
  2. You should be redirected to a Google sign in page.
  3. Enter your Google credentials and you will be taken to your Schoology home page.
  4. Now you will need to click on the COURSES tab at the top of the page.
  5. Select the class that you want to work in to create your first Schoology test.
  6. You are now in the chosen class and can proceed to Step 2 below to begin creating your test.

Step 2: Creating a Test

  1. Rather than recreating what Schoology has done click on the following link and it will take you to their help page and the steps to creating a test: Create Tests/Quizzes
    • If you have ExamView or have created a test in Blackboard or Edmastery you can export and then directly import into Schoology. You can find a section on this here: Import a Test, if you need more assistance with importing I can help you.
  2. Follow through with the listed steps from the Schoology help page link as you work to create your test. (Helpful hint: Open a second browser window and move and resize them so you can quickly look back and forth from the help page to within your course in Schoology as you create your test.)
    • If you prefer to watch a tutorial video rather than read through the steps and work along the YouTube video below by FerranteMath does a good job of explaining the process.
  3. Continue creating your test as you scroll down on the help page for additional options about creating your test.
  4. Once you are finished adding questions to your test and have the test created you are ready for the Settings menu.
  5. The Schoology help page will also guide you through how to adjust these settings so that your test can be opened and taken by your students.
  6. You should now be ready for the students to take the Schoology test you just created. You can preview the test to see what the students will see and check that it is what you are wanting. If there are any changes needing to be made you can go back to the Questions tab and make those edits.
  7. Wait for the students to take the test before you can proceed to step 3 of Grading the Test.

Step 3: Grading the Test

  1. Rather than recreating what Schoology has done click on the following link and it will take you to their help page and the steps to grading a test: Grade Tests/Quizzes
  2. Follow through with the listed steps from the Schoology help page link as you work to grade your test either by question or by individual student. (Helpful hint: Again you may want to open an additional browser window to be able to move back and forth from the help page to the Schoology test you are grading)
    • Again, if you prefer to watch a tutorial video rather than read through the steps a YouTube video by Paul Beckermann is below.
  3. Once you have finished correcting all of the test and manually edited points for any questions not automatically corrected by Schoology you should see that each student has a score in Schoology under the Results tab.
  4. You will also be able to check into the statistics for the overall test as well as individual questions. These can be valuable tools in guiding reteaching moments and making changes in instruction.
  5. The possibility of syncing grades to Powerschool is covered in Step 4.

Step 4: Powerschool Syncing

  1. If your school has purchased the Enterprise edition of Schoology and has Powerschool for your SIS you can set up for the syncing of grades.
  2. Follow the steps in the link below to have the grades done in Schoology synced to your Powerschool Gradebook.
  3. Although there are some limitations in the syncing of the Gradebooks the features do work well to save the teacher time in having to manually enter the items graded in Schoology back into Powerschools PowerTeacher Gradebook.
  4. Having completed this final step you are now well on your way to making use of the Test/Quiz feature within Schoology. As you have probably noticed in working through these steps you can use this feature for formal or informal testing as necessary and make use of the time saving features within.
