Description of the project: The project is a collaboration for mutual benefits between our closely aligned schools. The week will provide Le Bocage students with an opportunity to take part in the planning and delivery of a multifaceted project which aims to achieve a diverse range of Key Performance Indicators. The project also aims to provide students with an understanding of project management tools, such as method statements, risk assessment, communication and reporting.
The project has been designed as a holistic programme that seeks to address many Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) whilst creating a legacy project that can be sustained and developed year on year. The exit strategy of this project is to set the seeds for the development and expansion of the Clavis Nature Trail, education reserve and health and well-being space.
The Projects main areas of focus are:
SDG 3. Health and Wellbeing: Ensure healthy lives and promote well- being for all ages. The Clavis nature reserve and trail will provide the opportunity for outside movement and cardiovascular exercise. It will aim to improve the balance and spatial awareness of children, that is often lacking in today’s technology driven world. It will promote exercise as a way to maintain a healthy mind and body. The trail will promote well-being through connection to nature, enhance a sense of peace and belonging in a fast and noisy world. The reserve will promote space for art, reflection and meditation.
SDG 4. Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning for all:The Clavis reserve and nature trail will promote education in both the arts and sciences by the creation of an outdoor classroom where children can explore, discover and be creative away from iPads and walls.
SDG 13. On land: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable forest management, and halt loss of biodiversity. The Clavis trail will seek to preserve and maintain the environmental heritage and biodiversity within the reserve; measures will be taken to promote native and endemic species and to remove invasive species.
SDG. 17 Partnerships: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalisation of partnerships for sustainable development. The Clavis trail and its legacy aim to strengthen the partnership between Le Bocage and Clavis international school and a range of stakeholders for long term partnership development.
