Impact 2: Beach and River Cleanup

Description of the Project: Students have been involved in cleaning up beaches around the island and when you join a cleanup, you are advancing one of the most immediate and impactful solutions to keeping plastics out of the ocean. Marine debris is a global problem that requires a host of solutions. Students have been able to see how education is important to everyone: kids, teens and adults. Actually, it seems that adults seem to be polluting the beaches more due to the amount of alcoholic bottles and cans found. Students were shocked and would never have imagined how polluted a beach can be. They felt so proud of collecting all the waste and putting the beach back to its normal origin.
