Description of the Project: The Clothing upcycling project consisted of making new things out of old clothes. We received an order of 20 to 30 bag requests for school children from underprivileged backgrounds who were going to school with their books in plastic bags. We decided to make tote bags big enough to fit in school books. We also made a few pencil cases and scrunchies in the process. The team members learned how to sew with a sewing machine and how to create new things from existing items, thus reducing waste in the process of helping a community in need.
