At a time when computer science affects how we work and live, PLTW Computer Science empowers students in grades 9-12 to become creators, instead of merely consumers, of the technology all around them. PLTW students engage in hands-on activities, projects, and problems that are reflective of real-world challenges. This compelling, real-world approach empowers students to learn essential, in-demand skills validated by the world’s leading companies, while also providing an invaluable connection between what students are learning in the classroom today and how it applies to the paths they’ll take in the future.
The program’s interdisciplinary courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges. As students work together to design solutions, they learn computational thinking – not just how to code – and become better thinkers and communicators. Lancaster High School participates in the University of Cincinnati (UC)'s Early IT Program through the University of Cincinnati, allowing our students to earn college credit in Information Technology while at Lancaster High School. This program will leading to guaranteed admission to UC's tech degrees and potential savings on tuition, often incorporating paid work experience (co-ops) and access to tech resources.
