Teaching academy and childcare

Prepare for careers to make a difference and guide children as they learn and grow. Career options in this program include licensed childcare provider, teacher, teaching assistant, nanny, social worker, child psychologist or any career working with children. Students who train in this program are given the best real-world experience: work in state-licensed learning centers, preschools, junior high schools and high schools in our Lancaster Community. You will develop essential skills in teaching and leadership, managing toddlers and infants, and lesson planning. Students who have a heart and mind for children are perfect for this program that develops future educators.


In this program, students will use research and creative problem-solving to deliver developmentally appropriate materials for children of all ages. This program meets the standards of the Child Development Associate National Credentialing Program (CDA). Students may apply for the CDA credential upon successful completion of CDA requirements. Lancaster High School follows the standards from the National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation and the Early Learning Content Standards for Pre-K children set by the State of Ohio. Students interested in becoming a licensed K-12 instructor can earn college credit to get a jump-start of their further education.
