For our final community participation visit, we went to the Pavillion in New Ash Green. Students ordered their own soft drinks, shared chips, chose an ice cream and played on the playground and gym equipment.
We have harvested redcurrants and washed and frozen them ready to use next year.
We finished our nature mural by nailing all of our pieces together! Here is our finished piece ready to go on the wall.
We loved our end of year trip to Wildwood! We saw lots of animals including beavers, wolves and polecats. The highlight of our visit was the bears and our homemade picnic!
Dover Class enjoyed our visit from Animalia Encounters. We were able to look at, hold and interact with lots of different animals. It was a lovely end of year treat.
We have planned and prepared our on picnic to take to Wildwood Wildlife park with us! We worked well together to make chicken nuggets as well as other food.
We looked up recipes that we wanted to make for our picnic and wrote and prices a shopping list.
We have been practicing our fine motor skills and problem solving by completing puzzles and physical activities that use our spatial awareness.
We have been learning how to use coins to make amounts in lots of different ways. We can use numicon to help us do this.
We used the money skills we have been learning and practicing at the shop to buy ingredients for cooking.
We have been learning about ball games and aiming our throws. We've been using our skills to learn how to play Qwik Cricket together.
We have been learning about the value of coins and how to make amounts. Here, we have been ordering coins from smallest to largest value.
We went to Bluewater to practice our positional vocabulary. We found shops and described where they were in relation to others.
In maths we started a project focused on zoos. We designed our own zoos using either our knowledge of shape and area or our counting and comparing skills.
We went to the cafe and made choices about what we would like to eat. We practiced polite communication with others.
In PSPD, we have been learning about public and private. Here we are recognising behaviour that is acceptable in public or only in private.
We trialled a new recipe for our Castle Cafe. This week, we made strawberry shortcake frozen yoghurt. We followed a recipe and used a wide range of appliances.
For our unit of inquiry we have been looking at how we can share our resources, knowledge and skills and work equitably together to achieve a goal. We have been learning how to use tools, doing in-depth studies of creatures and working together to create an outdoor nature mural to decorate our outside area.

In communication this week, we were learning about appropriate ways to greet different people in formal and informal situations.
For inquiry, we are continuing our work on our mural. Students added images of the natural world to our mural, choosing images to inspire their work and painting flowers and creatures to add to our mural base.
This week, we were visited by the police! They spoke to us about community safety and let us explore their equipment.
This week, we went to Costa for our community trip to experience a workplace, practice our speaking and listening skills and work on our use of money.
In inquiry we continued our work on our nature mural. Students chose to add details to our sunflower stem by printing leaf patterns using leaves.
In enterprise, we have been testing a new recipe for our cafe. We made pizza doughs, rolled out a base and added toppings onto our base.
We are continuing our work on our nature murals. Students have been priming plywood and MDF and learning about appropriate PPE to protect ourselves while working, including wearing dust masks while sanding painted surfaces.
Students have started working in our new cafe. This week we were taking orders from customers and working as a team to make their order.
One of our students designed this invite to our VE day party and handed them out to staff and students to invite them along.
This term we are working on pattern and time. Some of our students have been learning how to read clocks to the nearest hour and half hour.
In PSPD, we are learning about healthy relationships. We have started by learning to identify people we have relationships with and which activities we can do with different relationships.
We have started Castle Café where Dover class are preparing toasties for staff members. We prepped our ingredients ready for our cafe to make our work easier.
For our line of inquiry into "equity and fair sharing" we are looking at how we can work together and ensure everyone has what they need to succeed by creating a nature mural for our outdoor area. We have started by looking for natural materials we could include in our mural and practicing our art skills to recreate images of flowers.
We are continuing with our work based learning at Bore Place. This week we picked edible flowers to make chocolate lollipops and replanted what we used by sowing wildflowers.

We went to the Beefeater for lunch this week! We practiced our social skills and independent living skills by waiting politely at the restaurant, speaking to our friends while we waited and even waiting for everyone to be served before we ate. We worked on our communication by requesting the food and drink we wanted and our reading by reading the menu and choosing what we would like to eat. We even built our careers knowledge by watching the chef and asking about the items in his kitchen, comparing them to ones we've used at school.
This week we had our spring sale! We all took turns working on our stall and serving the customers that came to visit us.
We walked to the cafe in the village and ordered a snack for ourselves after practicing in school. We were able to count out and exchange coins for our drinks or snacks.
We have been working on our addition and subtraction skills in maths and we are getting more independent using resources to help us.
This week was World Book Week! We practiced our counting and number skills by playing a board game to earn money to buy chocolate from Willy Wonka.
For our ASDAN qualification Getting Things Done we have been working on problem solving and working with others. We have started to recognise when we need help and request help from our friends in class.
As part of our World Book Day activities, we taste tested different ingredients we could use to make a chocolate bar and used adjectives to describe them as well as share our opinions. We then used our preferences to design our own Willy Wonka sweet.
We are working on composition and fractions in maths. Here we are learning about how parts can make a whole, just like two gloves make a whole pair!
We have been working on our social skills by learning to take turns and play games during our social time. This week, we have been bowling with our friends on the playground.
We have been working on applying our learning to our living skills work. Here we are using our reading skills and our knowledge of scales and weight to make lemon drizzle cake for our lunch.

We have been learning about home care by carrying out tasks to tidy up our class environment. Here we are loading the dishwasher!

We have been working on our counting and money knowledge by matching coins to numicon shapes. We then explored this further by counting out 1ps to find out how many would be worth the same as a larger value coin.
In inquiry we explored how we can be inspired by the ideas of others. We thought of as many winter-related items as we could and used each others' ideas to edit photos of ourselves.
We have explored healthy and unhealthy choices and enjoyed playing a game to sort foods to show our knowledge.
In horticulture we have been foraging and drying materials to make our own Christmas wreaths.
We used our maths shape and measurement skills to make mince pies to serve at an event in school.
We have been learning to sort items by different criteria such as colour, size, shape and type of item.
In inquiry we have been learning about our rights. We explored our right to an opinion and our right to protest by making protest posters about an area of the school we want to improve.
We have been learning how to take care of animals by looking after our own fish tank. This week we discovered a baby fish!
Students enjoyed listening to and joining in with a sensory story about a scarecrow which explored our feelings and how our actions can impact on others.
We are learning how to use appliances safely. We practiced plugging in and using the iron, the blender and the vaccuum cleaner.
Students worked really hard this week making hot chocolates at our very busy stall for staff and students.
We boiled eggs to make stuffing scotch eggs. We practiced our maths skills by counting the eggs into the pan and finding the right numbers on the timer.
In music this week we continued to explore graphic score and learnt to follow visual instructions to play and stop.
We practised having a conversation by listening to questions and responding to adults and peers.
We played Emotions Bingo and learnt the signs for our emotions from Laura from our signing team!
After our two minute silence and discussing remembrance day, students had a choice of activities to create a reflective piece about Remembrance Day. These students used pictures of the poppy fields to paint a picture.
Dylan chose to write a remembrance poem based on the pictures we had looked at and vocabulary we had learnt.
We attended a local remembrance service with members of the community and laid a wreath at the memorial to show our respect.
We have been learning about kitchen safety and have started to practice making hot drinks to run our winter term hot drink stall.
This week we have learnt about bullying behaviour. We were able to sort pictures or written situations by deciding if the people were being friends or bullies.
In our inquiry lesson this week we learnt about Bonfire Night. We enjoyed a sensory story about Guy Fawkes and looked at an advert for a local firework display.

This week, we went to the shops to buy some items for class. Students found items from their shopping list, scanned them at the till and packed their shopping bags.
For our work related learning, students worked to dig up potatoes and create new planters.
We were lucky to have a Forest School taster session this week. Students really enjoyed exploring the outdoor area, climbing, making a den, leaf hammering and cooking around a campfire.
In maths this week, we have been sorting items into 2 categories and comparing to find which has more.
We worked on following instructions to create marbled paper ready for our Enterprise products.
Dover class used their independent living skills to prepare fajitas for the class.
This week, we went to the Aquatics store to buy fish for our new fish tank!
We have started to work on our addition and subtraction skills as well as our problem solving by trying to make a given number.
In Enterprise we have been choosing colours so make marbled paper to use in card making.
We have been working on our fine motor skills to create products to sell at our Christmas fair.
Students have been learning about healthy and unhealthy habits and can recognise whether people are being healthy or unhealthy.
In our maths lessons we have been working on recognising 2d and 3d shapes.
This week, we practiced being open-minded by taste testing ingredients to use in flapjacks. We tried sultanas, prunes and apricot and shared our opinions on these. We followed the instructions to make flapjacks and worked as a team to agree on which fruit we would like to add.
In independent living skills, we followed symbolised instructions as independently as possible to make a hot drink. We thought about how we need to keep ourselves safe around kitchen equipment and kept this in mind as we worked.
In PSPD, we thought about our future goals. We learnt about different aspirations people can have for the future, such as having a family, living on our own or with others and having jobs, and made some choices about goals we would like for our own adult future.
