Upnor Class are working extremely hard and exploring our new ASDAN Life Skills Challenges.
The class are currently participating in a First Aid course and they all were really engaged learning about the DR ABC approach.
Upnor Class continue to visit BEAMS on a weekly basis, where they are also completing Life Skills Challenges, focussing on 2 certificates; Participating in household cleaning and preparing a simple snack.
The Students are also taking part in the following accreditations:
Asdan PP - Developing number skills / Functional Skills Maths and English Exams.

Students have also been asked to make a choice between the following Short courses, which we run on a Friday:

Upnor Class - Term 2
Upnor class have been hard at work producing evidence to bolster their ASDAN - Participating in a mini enterprise project portfolios.
Upnor class have researched product ideas for them to create and sell. The main products selected by the class were hot chocolate jars, wooden drinks coasters and Christmas tree decorations.
Upnor class are very excited to be co hosting the upcoming Christmas market @ Milestone main site on December the 12.
Upnor class have been enjoying taking part in new creative activities within our ASDAN sessions.
Upnor have been tasked with researching new ideas to try and activities to take part in.
Some ideas that have been investigated during these sessions have been exploring materials in arts and crafts sessions and designing and creating their very own t-shirt designs.
Upnor Class - Term 3
Upnor class have continued to hit targets in order to gain their ASDAN - Participating in a mini enterprise project qualification.
Upnor have been researching new products to create for our next sale point, this has included visiting different stores to research price points for materials. Upnor will be creating products with an Easter theme.

Upnor class have spent the term exploring new and exciting activities to be part of in order to complete the learning objectives to gain their ASDAN - Engaging in new creative activities qualification.
Upnor class explored mural painting, creating digital music and use of musical instruments.
Upnor Class - Term 4
Upnor class have been continuing with their ASDAN - Engaging in new creative activities. This module has seen Upnor class students became engineers, by researching and creating the best possible paper airplanes and then testing them out against each other in the 'Upnor Paper Airplane Race' which also brought out their competitive sides.
Alongside becoming engineers, Upnor class explored turning hobbies into creative activities. The class discussed hobbies and then voted to decide what hobby to expand into a creative activity, 'film' won the class vote. Students in upnor class were then transformed into film researchers and reviewers. Students started off by researching films to review, students watched trailers of films and gave each trailer a score from 1-10 and recorded comments to go alongside this rating, once all information was collected by the students the film that grossed the highest rating was the film to be reviewed, 'The Spongebob Squarepants Movies' was the highest rated. After students had watched the film they were tasked with writing a review of the film, highlighting the plot, main characters, favourite part, least favourite part, what may happen next and if their themselves would recommend this film.
As part their ASDAN - Engaging in a mini enterprise project, Upnor class have been hard at work. Upnor class researched and decided on their products that they wanted to make and gave them an Easter theme. Part of creating their products, Upnor students researched each product and listed the materials needed and where these could be purchased. During the process of creating the products, Upnor class took trips to purchase the materials that were needed and this allowed the students to also work on their social interaction skills as well as independent living skills.

As part of Upnors ASDAN lifeskills challenge, Upnor completed 'Using medical services'. In this challenge, Upnor students were able to identify keys services provided by healthcare professionals, recognise when treatments and if procedures were needed or routine. In the next module Upnor class will be loking at using ICT at home.
Upnor Class - Term 5
ASDAN
Upnor class enter into in their final stretch regarding the two main ASDANS (Engaging in new creative activities and Taking part in a mini enterprise project). This term has seen us completing our last activities, as well as organising and refining our ASDAN course portfolios ready for them to be sent in.
Maths
Our functional skills students have been working hard during our sessions and continue to push through barriers and show excellent resilience and perseverance skills. Our ASDAN - Early mathematics : The students taking part in the Developing number skills accreditation have been working continuously hard towards their final submission of evidence; they have been engaging well in relation to using numbers in a variety of ways, including taking part in games and activities to strengthen their understanding of ordinal numbers.

Activity Week - Students from Upnor call took part in out activity week, this was a fun filled fast paced week full of excited activities and challenges, students took part in football, archery, bottle rocket making, the M@W comedy store and our very our ready, steady, cook.
As well as the activity week, some of Upnor students went away on a residential trip full of white knuckle adventures!
What a fantastic effort Upnor class have made in English and maths this term. The hard work, dedication and perseverance towards improving their English and Maths skills have been impressive and are is really starting to show.
Upnor Class - Term 6
Term 6 already! This term is going to be a fantastic one, filled with lots of learning and fun activities. In English and Maths, we will be delving deeper into our subjects, building upon the knowledge and skills we have already gained.
As we progress through the term, we will also be focusing on preparing for our final exams. This will involve revising key topics and practising exam-style questions.
But it's not all work and no play! We are also eagerly anticipating our prom, a glamorous event that promises to be a highlight of the school year. From picking out the perfect outfit to practising our dance moves, we can't wait to celebrate with our friends and teachers in style.

Upnor class had the opportunity to work along side the Bluewater gardening team to plant and weed their new vegetable garden.
Upnor class work experience
Upnor Class are engaging in work experience this term! It's an exciting opportunity for our students to get a taste of the real world and gain some valuable skills along the way.
We've got a mix of activities lined up for them. Some students will be getting hands-on experience working on-site, immersing themselves in a professional environment and learning the ropes first-hand. This could be anything from working in our canteen to becoming a teaching assistant at one of our classes at our mainsite!
On the other hand, some students will be out and about in the community, putting their skills to use in a different setting. This might involve volunteering at a local charity shop, supporting events in the neighbourhood, or even assisting in local residential home.
It's all about giving our students a well-rounded experience, helping them explore potential career paths and develop crucial employability skills. So let's support them as they embark on this exciting journey!

Milestone @ Wilmington Prom 2024
Wow, what a night! The 2024 Milestone @ Wilmington prom was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we stepped into the beautifully decorated venue, it felt like we were in a fairy tale. The twinkling fairy lights, the elegant decorations, and the music that got everyone on their feet - it was truly magical.
The highlight of the night was definitely the dance-off to some of the Grease Lightning soundtracks. Watching our friends show off their best moves was hilarious and impressive at the same time. The cheers and laughter filled the room, creating an electric atmosphere that you couldn't help but be swept up in.
And let's not forget about the food – delicious snacks and drinks that kept us fueled for all the dancing and fun. Our Ipod were also a hit, capturing all the silly poses and big smiles that we'll cherish forever.
Overall, the 2024 Milestone @ Wilmington prom was a night to remember. It was a perfect blend of elegance and fun, creating memories that we'll all treasure for years to come.
Milestone @ Wilmington - Drama performance
This week was absolutely brilliant as some of our talented Upnor students took to the stage for the M@W drama performance, Sassy Cinderella! It was a fantastic experience watching them showcase their acting skills and bring the well-loved tale to life in such a fun and engaging way.
The students had been working incredibly hard in rehearsals, and their dedication truly paid off. The audience was captivated from start to finish, and there was a real sense of pride in seeing our students shine on stage.
Seeing the creativity, teamwork, and confidence of our students bloom in such a setting is truly a joy. We can't wait to see what other brilliant performances they have in store for us in the future!
Upnor class trip to Ruxley garden center
Upnor class took a trip to one of our local garden centres for future inspiration with in our enterprise pathways. We had a fantastic time, exploring and investigating exotic plants and garden-ware, we even managed to pick up a birthday present.
M@W heads to Dymchurch
Last week we took a trip to Dymchurch beach! Our day started off so well, with the sun shining brightly as we arrived at the beach. The students were buzzing with excitement, eager to kick off their shoes and feel the sand between their toes.
As we settled down with our delicious fish and chips, we were suddenly ambushed by a squadron of cheeky seagulls! It was quite a sight to see the students trying to protect their lunch from these fearless birds - a real comedy moment!
After the seagull incident, we decided to play some games on the beach. cricket, football and a sandcastle building - the students were having a blast! And of course, no trip to the beach is complete without dipping your toes in the refreshing ocean. The squeals of delight as they felt the cold water against their skin were priceless.
Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with laughter, surprises, and memories that will last a lifetime. Can't wait for our next adventure with the amazing students from Milestone @ Wilmington!
