Stream Pathway
Our transdisciplinary theme this term is "Who We Are." We are investigating our personalities, our likes and dislikes, our families and friends and who we are as an individual and as a community.
Our central idea is "communities are shaped by the people in them." We are looking at how we are part of a community and how our differences make us an even better team. We are looking into the different lives and cultures in our class community and learning more about each other.
Module 1
We have been working on the life skills challenge ' Shopping' this term The students are learning to write and follow a shopping list, then make a weekly trip to a local supermarket to locate the items and pay for them in the shop. The focus for our ASDAN new creative activities this term has been music and dance with the students having the opportunity to engage in weekly yoga, write dance, music and dance sessions. As part of our maths ASDAN qualification, Canterbury have been focusing on ordering numbers correctly and a variety of objects by size or weight.

Module 2
We have been working on the life skills challenge ' Personal hygiene' this term The students are learning how to complete personal hygiene routines effectively and the reasons why personal hygiene is so important. The focus for enterprise this term has been Christmas crafts, with the students having the opportunity to engage in new creative activities such as making pine cone christmas tree and snowmen, hot chocolate reindeer cones and tasty chocolate lollies! We hope to to sell these at the upcoming Christmas fair. Canterbury class have thoroughly enjoyed our weekly swimming sessions this term and all the pupils attending have made great progress in their confidence in the water. As part of our maths ASDAN qualification, Canterbury have been focusing on sorting, sequencing and organising items and following patterns. The students have particularly enjoyed following patterns with music.

Module 3
This term Canterbury have been exploring new musical activities as part of their ASDAN New Creative Activities module. We have been making our own musical instruments and exploring different music from all around the world. During our ASDAN Maths Sequencing and Sorting lessons, The students have been learning to recognise changes in shape, quantity and pattern and have been organising corresponding sets within functional jobs around the castle building.
After getting the washing out of the tumble dryer, a student pairs the socks together by colour.
Using playdough to explore different forces such as twist, stretch and push
Making bird food, by wrapping string around the stick, covering it in lard and sprinkling seeds all over it.
Module 4
Our transdisciplinary theme this term is "Where we are in place and time" We are investigating how humans change and grow over time and how choices me make today affect us in the future.
Our central idea is "People change over time".
Lines of Inquiry
How human bodies grow, change and age and different generations in families Explore how our surroundings and where we live has changed over time What do we need to do to look after the world for the future.
Students have been following a series of visual instructions to make their own toast. They have been learning to plug in and operate the toaster and cook some toast for snack time.
During a visit to Beams, students helped with the housekeeping by following a series of visual instructions to make a bed. and be able to put both the pillow case and duvet cover on with support and spread the duvet out over the bed.
All students in Canterbury class enjoyed some work experience at Bore Place Farm
During the visit they helped to make Bird feeders and hang them up in the trees
A Student enjoys sharing a book with an adult. He takes interest in the content and discusses the book with an adult answering questions about the pictures.

Personal Hygiene
All students in Canterbury class have been participating in personal hygiene activities and learning to independently clean their teeth
Students have been using a chatting sheet to decide what type of salt dough Easter decoration they would like to make and decorate.
Students have been following a series of 4 visual instructions to make an easter card.
Module 5
This term Canterbury students have been busy making lots of creative crafts to sell at the summer fete, look out for our tye dye clothing range!! We have been exploring where we are in place and time and engaging in lots of activities relating to our sensory story about the world.

For our enterprise activities this term, we will be making lots of items to sell at the school summer fayre.
We started this off by making tye dye T shirts. We chose the colour of the dyes we wanted to use and were very creative in our patterns!
Students in Canterbury class access the local community on a weekly basis to travel to a supermarket to buy our cooking ingredients.
The students use their chatting sheets before we leave to tell adults what they need to take with them and what they want to buy whilst in the shop.
For part of our celebrations for Mental health awareness week - Movement for our mental health, Canterbury class have taken part in lots of physical activities. Yoga was a big hit and the students all engaged well
The students all participated in a Mental health awareness week sensory assembly. They were asked to choose which physical exercise made them feel better. The most popular choices were running and cycling!
Canterbury class enjoy a trip to the local supermarket to buy ingredients for the cooking and nutrition lesson, followed by a snack in the cafe
The students in Canterbury class have been looking at different weathers and seasons as part of their ASDAN module. Students have been exploring the variety of different clothes and matching them to corresponding seasons or weather.
Module 6
This term Canterbury are looking forward to completing our life skills challenge - Engaging in activities in the community and we will be visiting the local community. We are enjoying exploring our new outdoor learning games and sports day was a great success. We are continuing to make lots of lovely craft items for the summer fete.
Students have been enjoying the better weather this week and have been engaging in outdoor activities. Twister was a favourite game which made them all laugh, especially when the adults fell over!
Students have demonstrated good hand-eye coordination when playing skittles

Students are enjoying our sensory story this term - The Squirrels who squabbled. They have been using chatting sheets to identify characters from the story.
Students are learning about recycling in science and what packages are made from
Students have been engaging in using a variety of different machines as part of their ICT challenge
Students enjoyed the hula hooping station at sports day and have been practiced hard for this event
Students enjoyed a game of bowling at sports day and showed off their fab eye hand coordination to get strike.
The trampoline is always a hit during sports days and PE lessons .
Students really enjoyed making their own bubble mixtures and then creating a variety of bubbles of all different sizes!
Students have been following a series of visual steps to make friendship bracelets. They all did so well with their threading skills!
Students participated in making Elderflower cordial. They were all so careful and listened carefully when using the knifes to cut up the fruit.
