Aztec Term 5
Inquiry Learning
As part of our transdisciplinary learning, we looked at where in the world different foods were grown. We could then identify the climate and what the crops needed to thrive.
This led to investigating different food groups and both healthy and unhealthy foods to ensure we eat balanced diets to help our bodies grow and give us the right amount of energy
We looked at the calories in different foods , exercises and activities were also looked at, so now we know what exercises we need to do to burn off a chocolate bar!
Maths
Today, we have been learning about patterns in number, we have made different patterns then looked at this and transferred them in to a linear repeated pattern and a cyclical repeated pattern.
We have looked at the number system, and how numbers are sequenced. We sorted our numbers into odd and even then made and described different sequences.
Students made symmetrical patterns they noticed that they have an equal number of Pegs on each side, so everyone has used an even number of Pegs.
Some students also noticed that when you add a number to itself no matter if it is odd or even, the answer is always even.
We investigated which numbers made 10, adding just odd and also adding just even, we found that you can not add one odd and one even to make exactly 10.
We then checked what happened when you investigate bigger numbers.
