Within Phase 3 at Leigh Academy Milestone we educate students ranging from Year groups 7-11. We have eight classes based on our mainsite, and a further three classes based at Milestone @ Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy, our satellite.
The Phase 3 curriculum for classes on the main site encompasses four learning Pathways: Brook, Stream, River and Waterfall. This allows for each student to access a curriculum which meets their holistic learning needs.
In Phase 3, as across the whole school, every moment in is a learning opportunity.
All four Pathways follow a three-year rolling program, linking their learning through a strong Central Idea, and guided by Lines of Inquiry. The Lines of Inquiry have been created in collaboration with staff and students, with the aim to provide appropriate, engaging and relevant vehicles for learning for success in both academic learning and individual targets, including Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets (which are supported in their creation by the families).
The Transdisciplinary Themes, Central Ideas, Lines of Inquiry are adapted for each learning pathway, yet allow collaboration and inclusion across the Phase in order to prepare students for independence and their next stage in education.
