Participants will engage in a mix of guided comedy writing, group sharing, and improv activities to explore emotions and learn to cope with new experiences. Each session will focus on a theme co-determined by group members and therapist (e.g., self-image, friendships, family dynamics, resilience) and use humor to approach it from multiple angles. Teens will learn comedic techniques such as storytelling, exaggeration, character work, and joke timing and practice using them to better understand themselves and connect with others. Group norms will emphasize respect, inclusion, and emotional safety so everyone can be themselves and have fun.
This is a closed group that runs quarterly; Saturdays from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Sentier offers a supportive DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) Skills group for high school students. This is a quarterly 8-week psycho-educational skills group that teaches skills from the DBT modules of core mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Please note: This is a skills group and is not an intensive or adherent DBT program. Support from adults is a key component to the teen’s skill development, so this group also contains a parent education component. Guardians are invited to attend three 1-hour parent education classes throughout the course of the group where they will receive an overview of the skills that teens are also learning! Open to ages 13+.
