Position: Head Student
About the role
Being The Head Student is a prestigious role, it is an incredibly demanding yet rewarding position. As Head Student you will develop leadership skills such as; resilience, commitment, accountability and adaptability, all traits of an excellent leader.
As a vitally important person of KH8, you will act as a voice of both the staff and the students, it will be your responsibility to liaise between staff, students and parents, continuing to build upon the outstanding ethos at KH8.
You will lead and manage the Student Leadership Team. This will involve working closely with everyone on the team including organising and chairing meetings; but also supporting and guiding individuals in order to help them in their roles.
As a person with ideas, you will contribute to the day to day running of the school, assisting and developing procedures, systems and processes for the betterment of the staff and students.
Giving speeches at school events is a major part of the role and despite being daunting at first, you will develop your confidence at public speaking. Alongside this, you will be able to run events or projects within the school on subjects you feel passionately about.
Responsibilities
To manage and support the student leadership team and coordinate any group efforts.
To act as a representative of students; to be their voice.
Giving speeches at open days and other school events.
Acting as the link between students and teachers, including meeting regularly with the Head of Sixth Form, Deputy Head Teacher, Headteacher and other staff as required.
You will be accountable for the outcome and results of the student leadership team.

Position: Deputy Head Student
About the role

You will need to be supportive in backing up the work of the Head Student, you will need to forge close connections with the Head Student. You will act as a voice of both the staff and the students, it will be your responsibility to liaise between staff, students and parents, continuing to build upon the outstanding ethos at KH8.
Alongside the Head Student, you will lead and manage the Student Leadership Team. This will involve working closely with everyone on the team including organising and chairing meetings; but also supporting and guiding individuals in order to help them in their roles.

Position - Wellbeing Prefect
About the Role
As Wellbeing Prefect, your main responsibility is to aid in improving the wellbeing of the pupils in our school as well as educating pupils on certain topics that correlate with wellbeing and mental health. Your main priorities are to plan events/activities for the different mental health days/weeks: this could come in the form of assemblies, lunchtime or tutor time activities.
Some examples of activities might include: creating and delivering presentations, organising a club, making videos for the school social media accounts and planning and running events around school that contribute to positive health such as Halloween, Valentines day,Fun Sports days.
Responsibilities
Plan and organise key mental health days/weeks eg. Wellbeing Week.
Taking an active role in the ‘Student Voice’ questionnaire and advising staff on the outcomes.
Interacting with pupils and getting feedback on how wellbeing can be improved within school.
Being observant and proactive in regards to the school environment relating to wellbeing e.g. ensuring signposting and awareness posters are up to date
Continually develop ideas that can improve wellbeing in school.
Create PowerPoints and educate pupils on different aspects of mental health/wellbeing.
Contribute to school assemblies on the topic of wellbeing.
Candidate requirements
You need to be well organised as there are often different intiatives/events running simultaneously.
You need good active listening skills, as a lot of the things that you plan will be based on feedback or suggestions from teachers or pupils
Be able to prioritise effectively. There are many things you can do in the category of well-being but it is important that you are able to prioritise the most important and beneficial things.
Position: Events Commitee Prefect
About the Role
As Events Prefect, your main role is to plan, coordinate, and deliver memorable events that bring the school community together. This includes organising whole-school celebrations, Sixth Form social events, charity initiatives, and supporting other committees with their activities. You will play a central role in ensuring events run smoothly, are inclusive, and reflect the spirit of our school.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver key school events such as assemblies, themed days, charity drives, and student celebrations.
Work with the Head and Deputy Head Students to develop an annual events calendar.
Collaborate with other Student Council committees (Wellbeing, Eco, Marketing, Charity, etc.) to design and support joint projects.
Coordinate logistics such as venues, timetables, permissions, and equipment for events.
Recruit and manage volunteers from across year groups to help run events.
Gather feedback from students and staff to improve and develop future activities.
Ensure all events are inclusive, enjoyable, and representative of our diverse community.
Candidate Requirements
You must be organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
Be confident in leading a team and delegating responsibilities.

Position: Events Commitee Prefect
About the Role
As Marketing Committee Lead, your main role is to showcase the work of the Student Council and promote school events, activities, and initiatives. You will be responsible for creating engaging content that celebrates student life, raises awareness, and encourages participation. This role is perfect for someone with creativity, strong communication skills, and an interest in media, design, or publicity.
Responsibilities
Design posters, newsletters, and digital content to promote Student Council events and campaigns.
Work with the Events, Eco, Wellbeing, and Charity Committees to publicise their activities.
Manage displays and noticeboards around school to share updates and highlight student achievements.
Support the Head and Deputy Head Students in communicating Student Council news to the wider school community.
Use creative ideas (photography, video and social media-style graphics) to make campaigns engaging and eye-catching.
Ensure all marketing materials reflect the values and spirit of the school.
Collect feedback from students on how events and campaigns are received to improve future communications.
Candidate Requirements

Position: Events Commitee Prefect
About the Role
As Eco Committee Prefect, your main role is to promote sustainability and environmental awareness across the school. You will help create projects and campaigns that encourage students and staff to think about their impact on the planet, while also working with school leadership to make our community greener. This is a role for someone passionate about the environment and eager to inspire others to make positive change.
Responsibilities
Lead sustainability initiatives such as recycling drives, waste reduction projects, and energy-saving campaigns.
Develop and deliver school-wide events to raise awareness of environmental issues (e.g. Earth Day activities, green challenges).
Work with the Head and Deputy Head Students to embed eco-friendly practices into school life.
Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other Student Council committees to integrate sustainability into wider events and activities.
Encourage student-led projects and support peers in bringing eco-ideas to life.
Communicate progress and successes through assemblies, displays, and the Marketing Committee.
Explore opportunities for partnerships with external organisations to support environmental projects.

Position - Charity Prefect
About the role
The Role of Charity Prefect is one of the most demanding yet rewarding positions, you will act as the school’s main ambassador in organising and executing events, for instance; ‘Refuge for the Refugees’ or ‘Gifts under the Christmas tree’.
It will be for you to decide on the chosen charities and events, you will need to be creative in order to develop this role further ensuring KH8 are proud of our collective achievements.
Responsibilities
Organising all charity events
Liaising with the Head and Deputy Head students, the Student Council & Senior Leadership Team.
Visiting/liaising with charity organisations
Planning and performing at assembly and delivering tutor time activities.
Candidate requirements
Requires key organisational skills and effective time-planning
Must also be good at problem solving
Requires someone who can be flexible and adapt accordingly
To work effectively as a team, communication and leadership skills are required
Public speaking and confidence e.g for assemblies/events
Creativity is important: designing presentations and posters while contributing towards marketing charities and events.
Position - Year Leader Prefect (Years 7-11)
About the role
You will interact with and organise events for students in each year group, for example, organising Reading Partners for Primary school, becoming ‘Buddies or Role Models to students in younger year groups which assist in the development of relationships between all students This position necessitates excellent organisational skills, from organising volunteers to assisting with events and ensuring they run smoothly.
Responsibilities
Interacting with the Tutors & Deputy Heads to organise events for students and to recognise students’ achievements.
Liaising with members of the Student Leadership Team.
Being accountable for ensuring events run smoothly and efficiently.
Organising and delivering ‘year team’ assemblies.
Act as a responsible person around the school by taking on a duty such as; dining hall, coffee shop, learning commons, Library, or corridor prefect.
Attend school events, such as open evenings and options evenings.
Attend school marketing events such as the Private International Schools Fair
Act as an ambassador in showing parents and visitors around our school campus
Liaise with Primary school on initiatives and ideas such as; reading buddies, break time monitors, year 6 transition..
Candidate requirements
Be optimistic about future events and how you influence them.
Have strong organisational and communication skills to collaborate with teachers students and parents.
Have great enthusiasm and a passion to work with throughout the Primary and Senior sections of KH8.
To work effectively as a team, communication and leadership skills are required
Public speaking and confidence e.g for assemblies/events
As House Captain you will be tasked with organising, with the help of vice-captains, teams and entries into the various competitions across the school year.
You will be expected to set an example in terms of attitude and involvement during events and competitions. Getting involved as much as possible and offering support to those who are helping to run the events/competitions.
You should be a positive, motivated student who is happy to represent the House and the School at various times throughout the year.
This is an exciting opportunity for students in Year 11 who wish to take on leadership roles and perhaps, have ambitions of being a prefect or student council member in the future.
House Captains will be selected through a staff vote and a student vote. You will be expected to deliver a short speech to the members of your House prior to voting taking place.
