Economics explores the often hidden reasoning behind how people, businesses and governments make decisions. Students of economics can expect to gain an enhanced appreciation and understanding about how the world around them works, which in turn provides them with the skillset necessary to make a difference.
WHY CHOOSE ECONOMICS?
Economics provides you with a set of tools to understand how the world works.
iGCSE Economics provides a solid foundation for learners wishing to progress to A-Level Economics.
Economics iGCSE and A-Level are considered as strong subjects by universities (even if you aren’t applying to study economics).
A University Degree in Economics is very flexible – allows you to keep your options open for a wide variety of jobs.
Economics graduates often go into high paying jobs.
See this article for salaries of UK Economics graduates and this article on salaries of U.S. Economics graduates.
If you enjoy logic and problem solving, this subject can be very enjoyable to study.
WHY SHOULD I NOT CHOOSE ECONOMICS?
Wow, that's a lot of great reasons to study Economics, sign me up! Unfortunately, there is a price tag attached to these benefits:
The iGCSE Economics course has a lot of content, which can mean some students find the workload to be quite high.
It’s not recommended to choose Economics just because your friends choose the subject.

WHY IS THERE A PICTURE OF A WEIRD ORANGE-APPLE THING AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE?
Glad you asked (and congratulations for making it to the bottom of the page). The image comes from one of my favourite Economics books, Freakonomics: A Rogue Economics Explores the Hidden Side of Everything. If you're interested in learning the answers to the following:
What do school teachers and sumo wrestlers have in common?
If drug dealers are so rich, then why do they still live with their mothers?
If you decided to name one of your children 'Winner' and one of them 'Loser', would that impact their chances of life success?
To find out the answers to these questions and more, the book is available in the KH8 library and to purchase online in Malaysia here.
