Welcome From the Head of Key Stage Three Mrs. Rania Khalil
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
I am very excited to welcome our Year Nine students, both new and returning, to another year at KH8. As you all know, Year Nine is a pivotal transition point in your academic journey. This is the time when you begin to develop depth in your studies, make important choices about your future, and take increased responsibility for your outcomes.
As you move into Year Nine, you can expect some changes. The pace and rigour of your lessons will increase, and so will the expectations surrounding behaviour, attitudes, and responsibilities. We will be looking for you to demonstrate your growing maturity in several ways: taking on positions of responsibility in the student council, setting examples of excellent behaviour for the younger students, and supporting your peers through both challenging and exciting moments.
In Year Nine, you will have many exciting opportunities, ranging from academic choices and co-curricular activities (CCAs) that help you expand your horizons to sporting competitions and inter-house events that showcase your team spirit. We encourage each of you to participate as much as possible in the year ahead. Whatever opportunities you choose to pursue, know that we will be here to support you.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind students of the excellent standards we maintain at KH8 and the responsibilities each student has when attending our school.
Our school is respectful. Students and staff are here to support, encourage, and motivate each other, and respect is a cornerstone of this. We can all show our respect through our everyday actions of politeness, punctuality, consideration, and compassion.
Our community is responsible. Responsibility at KH8 extends far beyond the classroom and will be more important than ever in Year Nine. You will be responsible for striving towards academic success, exhibiting excellent behaviour in and out of class, and standing up for what you believe in when interacting with peers.
Our students are resilient. Year Nine will be a significant step up for some students, and we recognise that learning is a lifelong process with ups and downs. As resilient learners, you will develop valuable skills of perseverance and hard work, sticking with challenges until you achieve your hard-earned success.
Finally, at KH8, we understand that entering Year Nine can present challenges and stresses for many students. Throughout this year, ensure that you take care of your friends, take care of yourself, and reach out to any of the staff in the Year Nine team if you need anything at all.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Mrs. Rania Khalil
