Spikeball (Striking)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 8 sets of spikeball
Team 1 (2 people) serves to Team 2 (2 people) to start the game
Players have up to 3 alternating touches to return the ball to the net
After the serve, players can move or hit in any directions
Points are scored when the ball hits the rim, the ground, or bounces more than once on the net
Upside Down (Cardiovascular Endurance)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 6 dice, 6 hula hoops, 30 small cones
Students will be divided into 6 teams
Six dome cones set up in a straight line.
Object is to roll the dice, the number that the dice lands on, students will run down to that number of cone and turn it upside down. Then next student’s turn.
If the number is rolled second time, the cone has turn upside down again so team is set behind.
Play until all domes are upside down or time limit.
Kickball (Cooperative Games)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 15 foam balls, 3 hula hoops, 3 cones/bases,
The class will be divided into two groups.
One team kicks one person at a time and runs the bases accordingly. The other team is fielding. Fielders are not allowed to throw the ball at the player. They must either tag the player or throw the ball to the base.
After 3 outs the teams switch.
Capture the Critter (Cardiovascular Endurance)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 30 cones, 6 hula hoops, 6 critters, 12 bean bags
Divide students into 2 teams.
Note boundaries & ensure safety (tagging) rules.
On signal, students run to the opposing team’s side and tries to capture a critter that’s held in a hula hoop without being tagged and return it to their own territory. Once a critter is claimed, it goes in the hula hoops behind their territory.
When an opposing team member is in your territory, you are trying to tag them to make them return to their own territory.
If a player is tagged while on their opponent’s side they must go back to their own territories.
If a player who has stolen the critter is tagged, the critter is returned to the hula hoop, and the player goes back to their own territory to start over.
Golf (Striking) GOLF VIDEO
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 30 golf clubs, 30 wiffle balls
Students will practice striking ball as far as possible
Ultimate Frisbee (Sidearm Throw)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cones, cones, frisbee
Field - Rectangular field with end zones at each end with an end zones on both ends of the field
Scoring - The offense scores a point when they pass the disc into the defense’s end zone
Movement - Players can’t run with the disc, but they can pivot on one foot
Passing - Players can pass the disc in any direction
Non-contact - Players can’t make physical contact with each other, and screens and picks are not allowed
Fouls - Players are responsible for calling their own foul and line calls. A foul occurs if a player initiates contact with another player. If there is a foul, the team loses possession of the disc.
Throw off - The defense throws the disc to the offense to start each point
Out of bounds - If the disc goes out of bounds, the receiving team can choose to take possession at the point it went out of bounds or at the middle of the field
Receiver’s position - The receiver must be completely in the end zone when they first touch the ground to score
Basketball (Ball Handling, Passing, Catching)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 2 basketballs
The ball must be passed to at least 3 people on the team before shooting the ball
Volleyball (Striking)
Equipment: station sign, 1 volleyball, omnikin balls, pumps, punch balloon
Students will try to volley the ball as many times as possible without it dropping to the ground.
Hungry Hippos (Cooperative Game)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, 15 rings, 15 scooter boards, yarn balls, success balls, whiffle balls
Students will work with a partner; one hippo and one guide
The hippo will lay on their stomach on the scooter while the guide will hold their legs/ankles up off of the ground.
On the signal the guide will push the hippo out onto the floor towards the center circle.
When the hippo reaches the circle, they extend their arms out to grab as many balls as they can.
When the hippo is full, the guide will pull the hippo back to their hoop. The hippo and guide will then switch out places.
If a hippo loses a ball, they must leave it, they can not go back and get it nor can the guide pick it up.
Play continues for approximately 3 minutes. At the end of 2 minutes, teams count up how many items they have inside their hoop. If time expires while they are out on the floor with items, they must leave those items where they are. Items only count if they are inside the hoop when time expires.
Fitness Skillastics (Physical Fitness)
Equipment: station sign, 1 cone, sound system, ipod with appropriate music
Students will be divided into 6 teams of 4-5 people.
Fitness Skillastics is a physical fitness activity much like a board game where students will participate in various exercises.
