January 2025 - Part 1
Ms. Pilato
This month in our Ag Tech course, we kicked off the new quarter by focusing on the fundamentals of botany and seed germination. We explored the process of planting and nurturing seeds, gaining hands-on experience in the early stages of plant growth. Through this practical approach, we gained a deeper understanding of plant biology and how it applies to agricultural technology.

During the month of January, the Math Learning Lab students have been locked in and learning core math skills including fractions and decimals. The students have also been exploring ratios and unit rates and they've learned to see how vital math is in everyday situations like shopping and cooking. Another area of growth has been with data analysis where our students have been reading and analyzing data on line plots. Our Math Learning Lab students are absolutely crushing it by approaching every challenge as an opportunity to grow!
Teen Health students learned about serving sizes. Students guessed what a serving of certain foods would look like.
Home Economic students learned some basics about hand sewing and will be starting their sewing projects soon!

6h Grade-Just finished up working on their foot orthosis project. Students needed to engineer a prototype for a child in need of a foot orthotic. Students needed to make it fun and comfortable for the customer as they would be wearing it all day long.
7th Grade- Currently working on their electrical circuit project. After learning how to read, draw, and assemble a simple circuit students are being asked to make a working invention. Their invention must turn on when a switch button is pressed and help Batman fight crime.
8th Grade- Students are working on their paper towel holders. After they have come up with their design, students need to cut, sand, and assemble their pieces. Students could pick any design they want so long as they are able to cut it out. Planning is key throughout this entire process.
Chorus had a busy 2nd quarter preparing for our Winter Concert. As we begin 3rd quarter, we have lots of new music to learn and we are working on our music literacy even more. Students have been working on learning rhythms: how to read them, write them, and clap them. You can see in the pictures featured, 6th grade students writing the TA/SH patterns under quarter notes, half notes, dotted half notes and whole notes, as well as quarter rests, half rests, and whole rests. The whole class practices clapping rhythms together to further our music reading skills.
