6th Grade: Finished their scale model house project and began working on their Skimmer project.
7th Grade: Classes finished building their rockets and are preparing to launch.
8th Grade: Students finished their Paper towel projects and are now finishing up their clocks. Some have even taken it upon themselves to work on a piggy bank too.
Teen Health students completed their Media Ready curriculum by creating a counter advertisement and presenting it to the class. They also participated in a self chosen relaxation activity to help lower their state testing stress levels.
Home Economic students finally got to the highly anticipated cooking labs! So far 6th graders made rice krispy treats and 8th graders made chili macaroni. Next week they'll be making garlic cheddar biscuits and chocolate cupcakes.
Have a wonderful and safe summer!

On Thursday, May 22, the WMS Chorus presented their Spring Concert "Mostly 80's Music." The students did a fantastic job and had a lot of fun dressing up in 80's style. We learned about chest voice resonance and how to sing in a pop style, rather than the traditional choral style we've been using for the previous three nine weeks. It was an outstanding performance and we had an amazing audience. I hope it is a memory they will cherish for years to come.

This month in Ag. Tech, students worked in groups on sustainability projects, exploring real-world challenges and potential solutions in agriculture. To wrap up the unit, they completed a final project where they designed their own piece of agricultural technology. This hands-on activity allowed students to showcase their creativity and innovation as future leaders in the field!
We also harvested our first tomatoes of the season, and they BURST with flavor; and last, but most certainly not least, our friends from Leilehua HS Farm Fresh set us up with some new garden boxes so we can integrate more agricultural experiences over the summer and for years to come!

6th Graders in Art class finished up the quarter by creating Ancient Egyptian artifacts. They learned how to draw and write in the ancient style.
7th Graders studied pattern and design in the making of kapa-inspired cloth.
8th Graders created Kindness Rocks to add to our garden in front of the school. If you have never seen it, please stop by to check it out!

The Math & ELA Learning Lab students have worked incredibly hard all year and their dedication definitely paid off. We are happy to celebrate the progress they made on their end-of-year assessments. Their focus and dedication to reaching their learning goals have made us all very proud.
To wrap up the quarter, we enjoyed some hands-on activities. The students made yummy Spam musubis where some students tasted this popular local snack for the first time. The students also created 10-sided 3D figures using origami-- blending culture and critical thinking. Through these activities, the students discovered just how often reading, writing, and math show up in everyday life.
Way to go, Learning Lab students! Your growth in your learning and mindset have been inspiring! Happy Summer Spartans! :)

4th Quarter has been a productive one! 6th graders are busy assembling their solar cookers, can they get it to to heat to 150 degrees Fahrenheit in 10 minutes? 8th graders are testing out their bird beak projects and discovering how form fits function when it comes to nature. 7th graders are sleuthing what two compounds comprise the "mystery mixture". Have a great summer!
Mr. Ikehara
Our students had their Spring Concert this past weekend (5/24). They got to perform in a beautiful concert hall (Pearl City Cultural Center).
Both our bands did an outstanding job! I am beyond proud of each of them and I will miss all those who are leaving.

It's been a hectic end-of- quarter/year! Student Council has wrapped up for the year with a final meeting held in the middle of May. Next year's Officers have been announced, while this year's officers will finish their year by recycling, completing the mural, and hosting the end-of-year Talent Show.
Wheel classes have been busy planning their action projects which will occur in the final week of school! All projects chosen by classes were to end the year with fun activities for their peers!
Ms. S. Baker
Summer is just around the corner and students have all been working hard to finish their projects!
6th graders designed pixel art of their choosing, then transferred that design to a grid and embroidered it with yarn! After their embroidery, they finished the quarter off with pony bead gecko key chains!
7th graders have been diligently sewing their mini quilts! This month they moved on to quilting and binding, the last step!
8th graders had three projects in May! They tie-dyed t-shirts, made loom knit hats, and learned a japanese style of embroidery called sashiko!
Mr. Otaka
For the end of Q4, students did design and codeblocks challenges on Tinkercad, did a scavenger hunt using augmented reality, and 7th graders had an opportunity to work with Ozobots. We also had students finish off the quarter by writing interactive fiction.
