October 2024 - Part 2
Mrs. Maldonado
The ELA Learning Lab has been busy since returning from Fall Break. We have been focusing a lot on writing, especially our argumentative skills . We wrote an argumentative paragraph discussing whether Halloween should be celebrated in schools. We are also wroking on mastering parts of speech using fall-themed mystery pictures to make learning fun and engaging. We will continue to stay busy in the learning lab this quarter, working hard to strengthen our skills!
Mrs. Parrish
We had a great October! We began acting in silent scenes that prepared us for writing and filming our silent films.
We also read lyrics from songs in a spooky voices to get into the Halloween spirit.
Finally lots of charades and acting games to began getting comfortable in our own skin.

Pd 4 eighth graders are testing the concept of friction using different surfaces. Pd 6 seventh graders are busy prepping their hydroponics projects. They will be using the Nutrient Filtration Technique and the Kratky Hydroponics Method.

In our Innovations Class, we did an exercise to learn how machine learning works (Fish or Not Fish). We also learned about generative AI, and how it is currently affecting artists. Students took an ethical stance on the use of generative AI in art. We are currently learning CAD (computer assisted design), and creating 3D objects/scenes for multiple holiday challenges.
