Shout out to the Spartans that participated in a math competition, last week, at Highlands Intermediate School. Congratulations to Teandra Tosie, Adael Nunez Garcia, and Wilson Suarez for winning awards! Go Spartans! Photo Credit: Mr. Lavine
From Mr Otaka and Robotics Team: We concluded our Seaperch season last weekend (Saturday 4/12) at the State Seaperch Competition at the US Coast Guard Base on Sand Island. We had two teams representing Wheeler: Team 1 (Henry McCoy, Jose Reyes, Vincent Kim, Nolan Drewke) and Team 2 (Kegan Thompson, James Wunderlich). Our students did a great job on both the Obstacle Course and Mission Course. Team 1 also had to overcome an issue of a waterlogged motor, making repairs in the middle of the event.
Sadly, we were not able to place this year. But students got to learn a lot about issues of buoyancy and drag, and they picked up skills in waterproofing, soldering, and driving an underwater ROV.
Here are a few pictures of the teams in action.
Thank you, Mr Otaka
