Mr Watanabe.
6th Grade: Working on their skimmers. After learning how to use a ruler properly students are were tasked with creating a skimmer using precise measurements. IF it is built properly it has the potential to travel at least 40 ft across the floor.
7th Grade: As a fun project, students practiced following directions by observation to build a rocket. IF their rockets were built well, their rockets should travel high in the sky and deploy its parachute for a safe landing.
8th Grade: Students are working on their custom made clocks. They were given a square piece of soft wood and carved out a shape that they wanted. Then using precision measurements they mapped out where their numbers should go so their clocks could tell the correct time. If students finished early, they could start on building a custom made piggy bank for themselves.
Home Economics students started their long awaited cooking unit! Students learned how to make Rice Krispy Treats, Spam Musubi, Christmas Crack(ers) and Gingerbread Cookies.
Teen Health students learned how to tactfully turn down a request to smoke/vape. They then practiced it by putting acting out some very elaborate skits!
Mr. Yap
Mrs. Austin
On Thursday, Dec. 12, the chorus presented its annual Winter Concert. We had a great audience and the students sang beautifully. We are ever grateful to our staff, faculty, and administration for their support in our musical endeavors!
Ms. Pilato
For our final activities in Ag. Tech, students learned how to create blueprints and completed their final projects. For their introduction to blueprints, they designed technology to tackle Ms. Pilato's water crisis; how to water all of the plants in our classroom without a water source in the room. They then applied this knowledge to design their own innovative pieces of agricultural technology. These projects address issues in agriculture and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Mrs. Wada - Goode
Students in Art class have been busy finishing up their Quarter 2 projects.
6th graders are studying pattern and design, while creating landscape zentangles. 7th graders learned how to weave and they have been challenged to make their own weavings over the break. 8th graders learned about space, value, and texture in the creation of their charcoal landscapes.
Mrs. Tadaki
As we finish up Quarter 2, our Math Learning Lab students had a lot to celebrate! Their hard work and determination truly paid off, as they showed incredible progress on their iReady Math Diagnostic. Their steady growth is a testament to their commitment to learning . To recognize their achievement, we treated the class to a hot cocoa bar! It was a warm and festive way to acknowledge their hard work. Wishing all our Spartans wonderful holiday season filled with sweet memories!
