Mrs. Baker
Students have enjoyed the beginning of the school year and diving into their projects!
The sixth graders started with a blast from the past, pony bead pets! All students made the classic gecko keychain, then they got to make their own design!
The seventh graders will spend the whole quarter focusing on Hawaiian quilting. Their first project was to create the Breadfruit design using paper. Now, students are creating their own designs!
The eighth graders learned two strand ribbon lei making first. Many students struggled to start the lei, but all preserved and succeeded! Their next big project is a pet portrait!

Welcome back, hoping you had a great summer! Students in Interactive Science are off to great start this quarter. The first three images are of Pd 1 sixth graders learning how to use the microscope. The next four images are in progress photos of period 5 and 6 seventh graders Kratky Hydroponics Container design with the seedlings in the growth chambers. They recently just put them outside. The final two images are of Pd 3 eighth graders testing the concept of magnetic force.
Mr. Ikehara
It's always so meaningful when former students come back to visit and/or help. We had former student, Camila Larson, come and help me out during our screening of beginning band members. We also had former student Annika Davis visit from Cambodia!
We also have a student teacher from the University of Hawaii working with us every Thursday and Friday for the first semester.
Our students have been doing an outstanding job so far! Last year left a lot of big shoes to fill and these students are filling them nicely.
Mr. Morimoto
Welcome to a new school year! Ever wonder who changes the marquees in the front of campus? Your 8th grade Student Council Officers! This month they have been busy revising the StuCo mission & vision, creating a logo and tagline, and are now going into HRs to recruit representatives!
Both the 6th and 7th grade wheel classes are defining what it takes to be a leader and now 6th grade is moving on to goal-setting, and 7th grade is preparing for presentations on a leader of their choice!
Mr. Otaka
Students worked on different robotics platforms for the first section of the course: 6th graders worked with Ozobots, 7th graders worked with Dash and Dot, and 8th graders worked with Lego NXT and EV3 robots. Students had an opportunity to experience AR (augmented reality), and learned about 3d object scanning. Now the class is working on learning 3d modeling using Tinkercad. Our classes are currently working on designing something to improve the life of a deaf tripawd dog named Whisper.
Mrs. Parrish
Welcome to Theatre! This month we have discussed what theatre is and the purposes of theatre. We learned about the elements of musical theatre, stage directions and improvisation.
We usually start with a physical and vocal warm up, have some instruction on what we will do and we play lots of improv games to get the students comfortable with being on stage. We are currently working on silent scenes that we hope to translate to their own silent films!
Ms. Pilato
This week in our Agricultural Technology class, students enjoyed an exciting and educational field observation session. Students learned about the different types of seeds, their structures, and the conditions required for successful germination. They were hands-on as they started their own germination projects, planting a variety of seeds in soil and observing how water, light, and temperature affect their growth
