December 2024 - Part 2
December 2024 - Part 2
Mrs. Maldonado
The ELA Learning Lab has officially wrapped up the i-Ready diagnostic, and we couldn't be prouder of everyone's hard work and effort. After completing a successful semester, we celebrated by exploring holidays around the world through reading and crafts. We capped it all off with a well-deserved hot chocolate party to honor everyone's achievements! We hope everyone has a relaxing Winter break!

Hard to believe it's almost the end of the quarter. Pd 2 6th graders are using the concepts of radiation, conduction and convection to assemble their solar cookers. Can it heat up to 150 degrees in 10 minutes? Pd 3 eighth graders are modeling the moon's appearance. It's harvesting time for pd 5 and 6 seventh graders. They did a great job with their Nutrient Film Technique and Kratky Method Hydroponics project.
Mr. Ikehara
Our band had their Winter Concert these past two weekends. Students did an outstanding job! At our concert, we had to say goodbye to 5 students...this part is always hard.
We are also very lucky to have two great people working with us, Mr. Matsushita and Ms. Caroline.
Mr. Morimoto
This quarter leadership classes ended the quarter with events and activities for their peers! Take a look at a few of the pictures - birthday bash preparations, trivia contests, and more!
Ms. S. Baker
The Fiber Arts classes all worked incredibly hard to finish their projects by the end of the quarter!
6th grade learned a Japanese style of embroidery called Sashiko and turned their pieces into beautiful greeting cards!
7th grade continued with needle turn appliqué and moved on to quilting!
8th grade got creative with color and tie dye!
Mrs. Parrish
December has been such a busy time for our drama students! Our classes chose poems or monologues ranging from the Grinch to Shakespeare, poems from Maya Angelou, Shel Silverstein and Jacqueline Woodson or movie monologues from the likes of "The Devil Wears Prada", "Goonies" and "Mean Girls". They memorized, worked on character development and finally performed for their peers.
Their last assignment was to write a short play in groups and then perform it. We also had fun on "Skills Building" day where you can learn to juggle, hula hoop, jump rope, dribble a basketball or just read plays. It's been a great quarter!
Mr. Otaka
In December, we finished printing the designs of winners in our TInkercad challenges. 6th and 8th graders worked on learning the Swift Programming Language, while 7th graders used the Ozobot Evos to do minituarized Jr. Botball challenges. Then, we finished off the quarter by reading/playing interactive fiction books/games, and by trying to write our own interactive fiction using Twine.
