Mrs. Tadaki
The students in the ELA Learning Lab have been participating in a range of reading and writing activities this month. Our students are exploring the meanings of words through vocabulary building activities, analyzing text through close reading and collaborative discussions, and learning to write well-supported responses. Their recent growth monitoring assessment shows that the students are steadily progressing and we are excited to see their learning journey continue.

We are deep in activities here in third quarter! 6th graders are measuring the amount of energy in food by burning cheese puffs. Pd 3 8th graders are busy assembling their vertical wind turbine. Can they generate 5 volts of electricity in thirty seconds? 7th graders are working on their pollinator design. Can they assemble a model pollinator that can pollinate a vanilla orchid or bucket orchid without touching the "plant" itself?
Mr. Ikehara
Our Beginning Band members are working very hard and moving very far on their instrument. We are excited for what they are going to sound like at their spring concert.
Our Concert Band members are working hard for our Parade of Bands Festival happening this Saturday (March 1). We had Dr. Barclift from the University of Hawaii come in and work with our students.

6th Grade: Students loved getting to use yarn in a new way, painting! They created fun and unique landscapes and then used the yarn to bring them to life!
