The first quarter of our school year ended in late October and we have been working to finalize Q1 grades over the last few weeks. Final grades and teacher comments for Quarter 1 are now finalized and can be viewed via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Paper copies of report cards will not be distributed, however, if you would like a copy of your student’s report card, please reach out to their school counselor who can provide you with a copy.
If you do not yet have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, please see the information below about creating your account. This is the best way to keep up to date with your student’s grades and attendance regularly and is a key part of the relationship between school and families. I can’t more strongly urge you to set up this account if you have not done so already.
Powerschool Account Instructions:
Please click the link below for directions on creating your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.

Resources from Public Library
Did you know you have access to free digital resources for you and your teen that can help with academics and health care? All you need is a library card from the public library. To get a library card, you need to visit one of the branches, but then you can access these resources as well as magazines, music, movies, and newspapers online at any time. If you have any questions, email our school librarian lmkaplan@henrico.k12.va.us.
All students were made aware this month that only students In good standing may attend extracurricular events such as football games, dances, or other after school events. All students begin the school year in good standing, but consequences related to behavior, unexcused absences, or poor academic motivation can lead to a student losing that status and unable to attend those events for a designated period of time. Families and students would be notified of loss of in good standing status, but with homecoming a month away, now is a great time to reiterate the importance of meeting school expectations in order to attend that event.
You can now report student absences online!
Simply go to www.atdsf.com to Parent Links, click on Attendance Forms and provide the necessary information.
Reminder that all absences longer than 3 days must be approved by Dr. Marshall.
Thank you to all of the parents/guardians for the class of 2024 who joined school counseling and administration for the senior parent night. You may access a copy of the presentation here.

Student drop-off and pick-up locations are in the student parking lot behind the Baseball field, off of Camden Drive. Parents are asked to pull into the main student parking lot when picking up students at dismissal. Parents should not use the visitor's parking lot off in front of the school to drop off or pick up students during the start of the school day (8:30 to 9:15 a.m.) or at dismissal (3:30 to 4:15 p.m.). Please note that it is extremely unsafe, at any time of the day, to drop students off on the curb min front of the school. The Drivers’ Education Lot across Camden Drive is ONLY for buses. Let’s ensure the safety of our young drivers by following this request. See the picture below for clarification.
The HCPS Code of Conduct stipulates that student cell phones must be off and away during instructional time. This year at DSF, students may be asked to place their phone in a designated location in most classes during class time. Students who do not and whose phone is out without permission during class time will have that device confiscated and turned into the main office.
Phones will be returned to parents and guardians. Students may use the main office landline to inform parents that their phone was confiscated.
