What time do seniors need to arrive to the HSEC?
Answer: 8:45 a.m. (get there earlier; we want seniors walking into the West 2 doors at 8:45 a.m., not pulling into the parking lot at 8:45 a.m.)
What time do doors open to families?
Answer: 9:00 a.m. (get there earlier; we ideally want seniors and families arriving together–carpooling is key)
Does every car, including ridesharing, need a parking pass?
Answer: Every car entering the lot (actually every car getting close to the facility) must have a parking pass. Police and RMC will be checking parking passes and guiding folks in starting at the turn off of Book Road.
How do I know if I have any outstanding Senior obligations or fees to pay.?
Answer: We have been sending emails to families with outstanding fees and obligations up until this point, but turning in textbooks and computers and chargers often creates more. During our first graduation practice, students will receive their cap and tassel and/or information about outstanding fees or obligations. I am sharing this information now so you can be prepared to rectify that on Tuesday of next week.
When are graduation practices:
Answer: Two mandatory graduation practices for students: Tuesday, May 28 and Wednesday, May 29 in the DSF Main Gym from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (students wear their normal clothes for practices)
When do students get graduation tickets and parking passes?
Answer: Graduation tickets and parking passes will be distributed after the second graduation practice on Wednesday, May 29.
If students want a second pass and didn’t fill out the Google Form, they will need to stay after practice on Wednesday to acquire their second pass. No family may receive more than two parking passes.
Can we still get an ANGP shirt?
Answer: All Night Graduation Party t-shirts/tickets will be sold at graduation practice on May 28 and May 29. Venmo, cash, and check (made out to DSF PTSA w/ ANGP shirt in memo line) will be accepted. If you would like to pay ahead of time, students may pick up their shirts at practice. Venmo Valerie Hendricks (@Valerie-Hendricks-2 – last 4 digits, when asked, are 8405). Please put the full name of the student and shirt size in the memo line.

II. Rehearsal Expectations:
All Graduation Rehearsals (Tuesday May 28 and Wednesday May 29) will take place at DSF and attendance is mandatory. If a practice must be missed for an emergency reason, Ms. Pantele and Ms. Meadowes must be notified and the absence must be approved by them prior to May 24.
Graduation rehearsals are casual dress - graduation attire not necessary.
All students must arrive on time (by 9:00) and remain until dismissed. Attendance will be taken at each rehearsal.
Students should report to the GYM upon arrival at DSF.
Failure to attend all practices may result in inability to participate in the graduation ceremony.
The code of conduct is in effect for all events on school property and participation in graduation depends upon compliance.
III. Graduation Ticket Information:
Outstanding financial obligations will be distributed in April. Students should make all payments by May 17. Any students with remaining obligations will be notified at practice on May 28 and will not be given graduation tickets/parking pass until obligations are fulfilled. Students will be able to settle all outstanding fees directly after practice on May 28.
Each graduate will be allotted 8 tickets for graduation. Tickets and a parking pass will be distributed at graduation rehearsal on May 29 (if all fees paid)
If more tickets are needed, checking with other families for unused tickets is strongly encouraged.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE COPIES OF TICKETS. Tickets are watermarked and include a scannable barcode. Duplicates will be spotted and will not be accepted.
IV. Fees and Obligations: ALL OBLIGATIONS MUST BE PAID IN CASH OR CREDIT CARD
Seniors need to clear all obligations, except laptops/chargers/library books, by May 17th. Laptop/library book obligations must be cleared by the start of graduation practice on May 28.
A list of outstanding obligations, which are fees and/or items owed to the school, will be distributed at graduation rehearsal on May 28. Any students with remaining obligations will be notified at practice on May 28 and will not be given graduation tickets/parking passes until obligations are fulfilled. Students will be able to clear obligations after practice on May 28. Examples of possible outstanding obligations include:
Student’s assigned charger missing
Textbook not turned in
Fees (lunch, library, etc.) from current and/or previous school years
Additional fees listed on OSP
V. Graduate Candidate Behavior Expectations:
The Henrico County Code of Student Conduct remains in effect until after the graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
All rehearsals are mandatory and require appropriate dress, according to the school’s dress code policy for students.
All behavioral issues after May 24, 2024 will be dealt with by the administrative team, assigning the appropriate consequence(s) which may include removal from baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies.
If a senior is absent for a final exam, administrative and teacher approval must be received in order to make up the exam.
VI. Guidelines for Graduates and Guests:

Students will be required to hand over cell phones and other belongings when entering the building. These will be stored and guarded by Freeman Staff. Failure to do so will forfeit participation in the ceremony.
Every person entering the facility will require a ticket.
Graduates will be dismissed to the northern end of the event center. Parents and families are to meet their graduates in this area.
There will be a designated handicap drop off area at the East 2 entrance on the North side of the facility. Handicap parking spaces are available but are limited.

All guests and participants at the Class of 2024 graduation will need a parking pass. Seniors will be provided a parking pass with their graduation tickets at graduation practice. Those requesting a second ticket can sign up for one using the link in schoology. There will be no charge for a second parking pass (a change for this year).
The ANGP committee would like to thank everyone who has donated to make this party happen for our Senior Class. We will be selling t-shirts, which is the students ticket for the party, during lunches on May 7, 9, 14 and 16. We will also sell them at graduation practice on May 28 and 29.
A number of CTE courses are available for rising 6th-12th graders. For more information, please see page 25 of this document.
Henrico County Public Schools will be utilizing Virtual Virginia this summer to provide acceleration course options (NEW credit only) for middle and high school students. HCPS students can enroll in either Virtual Virginia Summer Cohorts. HCPS students can take a total of 2 courses (max) during the summer. For information and registration information, please click here.
Students currently in the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade who did not pass one of their core academic classes will need to enroll in a credit recovery class during Summer Academy 2024. Credit recovery classes are only available to students who must repeat the course. These classes are not an option for students taking the class for initial credit (i.e., first time or for a higher grade). Transportation will be provided from local elementary schools. Students may only register for 1 credit recovery course ($300). Students in the class of 2024 may have the option to register for a maximum of 2 credit recovery courses ($450). To learn more, please see page 15 of this document. Registration will open on March 11th and close at 4:00 pm on June 4th. To register, please click here. Freeman students will attend Godwin High School for Summer Academy 2024.
Reminder that students are not permitted to order food to school via doordash, Uber Eats or any other food delivery service. Any food delivered via these services will be confiscated and NOT delivered to the recipient. Among other reasons, if allowed, the high volume of such deliveries in a place with 1800 students would not be sustainable and overrun our systems which are not designed to be a step in food delivery service. Our cafeteria provides food at reasonable prices or families are encouraged to plan ahead and pack a lunch. This is not a change to longstanding rules at Freeman, but a recent uptick in Doordash delivery attempts prompted this reminder.
The HCPS Code of Conduct stipulates that student cell phones must be off and away during instructional time. At DSF, students may be asked to place their phone in a designated location in most classes during class time. Students who do not and whose phone is out without permission during class time will have that device confiscated and turned into the main office.
Phones will be returned to parents and guardians. Students may use the main office landline to inform parents that their phone was confiscated.
We need your help in ensuring that we have a safe and efficient start to your students morning each day. As a reminder, the visitors parking lot in the front of the school should not be used for student drop off; families should anticipate greater enforcement of this expectation from our security team starting this week. Students need to be dropped off by the tennis courts. The front doors for the school should only be used for students who walk to school each morning. Thank you for our cooperation in this matter so that we can get all students to their first period class in a timely manner.
Student drop-off and pick-up locations are in the student parking lot behind the Baseball field, off of Camden Drive. Parents are asked to pull into the main student parking lot when picking up students at dismissal. Parents should not use the visitor's parking lot off in front of the school to drop off or pick up students during the start of the school day (8:30 to 9:15 a.m.) or at dismissal (3:30 to 4:15 p.m.). Please note that it is extremely unsafe, at any time of the day, to drop students off on the curb min front of the school. The Drivers’ Education Lot across Camden Drive is ONLY for buses. Let’s ensure the safety of our young drivers by following this request. See the picture below for clarification.
