The scheduling process for the 2024-2025 school year has begun. Students and parents/guardians will complete their course requests in PowerSchool January 8-22. School counselors will begin their individual Academic and Career Planning meetings with all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students beginning on January 16th to confirm course selections and discuss their postsecondary plans. School counselors meet with students in grade level order. Rising seniors will have their meeting first, followed by rising juniors, and concluding with rising sophomores. The last day students may request a change to their course request, as space permits, for the 24-25 school year is May 24th, 2024. Important note: Some classes will begin to close and students may be placed on a waitlist for certain electives beginning on February 26th, 2024. Students and parents/guardians may access the HCPS planning guide by clicking here. The DSF course option sheet for rising 10th-12th grade students may be accessed here.

We need your help in ensuring that we have a safe and efficient start to your students morning each day. As a reminder, the visitors parking lot in the front of the school should not be used for student drop off; families should anticipate greater enforcement of this expectation from our security team starting this week. Students need to be dropped off by the tennis courts. The front doors for the school should only be used for students who walk to school each morning. Thank you for our cooperation in this matter so that we can get all students to their first period class in a timely manner.
Seniors, your All Night Graduation Party will be May 30, 2024 from 10pm-3am at the Weinstein JCC. Senior families, use this link to make a donation in any amount to fund this exciting celebration for our Class of 2024!

As a reminder the following vaccinations are required and failure to provide proof of vaccination prior to the first day of school will result in the exclusion from school next year until proof of immunization is received by the school/clinic:
Meningococcal (meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY): One dose is required at age 16 or older and required for 12th grade entry.
A link to the requirements is available under “Immunizations” at https://www.henricoschools.us/documents/departments/health/immunizations/423062/. If you have any additional questions, please contact the clinic by calling the school.

Student drop-off and pick-up locations are in the student parking lot behind the Baseball field, off of Camden Drive. Parents are asked to pull into the main student parking lot when picking up students at dismissal. Parents should not use the visitor's parking lot off in front of the school to drop off or pick up students during the start of the school day (8:30 to 9:15 a.m.) or at dismissal (3:30 to 4:15 p.m.). Please note that it is extremely unsafe, at any time of the day, to drop students off on the curb min front of the school. The Drivers’ Education Lot across Camden Drive is ONLY for buses. Let’s ensure the safety of our young drivers by following this request. See the picture below for clarification.
The HCPS Code of Conduct stipulates that student cell phones must be off and away during instructional time. This year at DSF, students may be asked to place their phone in a designated location in most classes during class time. Students who do not and whose phone is out without permission during class time will have that device confiscated and turned into the main office.
Phones will be returned to parents and guardians. Students may use the main office landline to inform parents that their phone was confiscated.
