At DSF, we like to start each month with a chance to catch up on all things DSF with our principal, Mr. Marshall. There is an opportunity to ask questions, hear about what is happening in the coming months, and discuss the vision for moving Freeman forward. For September, we will offer this in-person in our DSF library and also live-streamed with a link available on www.atdsf.com
Wednesday, 9/1 at 10 am. (in Person + virtual).
*subject to change due to weather
Please consider joining us for Principals Coffe this month!
Student schedules have been available at each open house (juniors and seniors can get theirs on Tuesday) and will go live on powerschool on Friday, September 3rd. Please note that schedules are tentative until the first day of school and may change, so please check powerschool to be sure.

We are strongly encouraging all forms and fees to be completed online using the same web-based tools we used last year I am proud to announce that our division has waived the Laptop fee and several other required items for every student this school year. With that news, we have moved on from the traditional and terribly-named “fee nights” and are encouraging all families to pay the minor required fees online:

Our first day of school is Wednesday, September 8th. Students should not be dropped off prior to 8:30am and class starts at 9 am. Students will report to their homerooms first for the first day of school and each day that first week. Students' homerooms are listed as "DS" on their student schedules and are the same class as their Freeman Focus class.
Now more than ever, staying connected with the school and your child’s teachers is important to your child’s success in school. Henrico parents can create accounts to view grades and attendance information through PowerSchool, access assignment information through Schoology, and receive communications through the SchoolMessenger App. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to set up your access to these tools. Each year, nearly 800 students at Douglas Freeman compete on multiple athletic teams. With your membership in the Booster Club, you support our programs and you save money on admission to home sporting events. See our website (www.dsfathleticboosters.org) for details about benefits associated with each membership level. Athletic passes and tickets may be used for all home Varsity and JV athletic events, excluding tournaments and Invitationals. Without a Booster Pass, costs per sporting event are $8 for football and $6 for all other sports. Preferred parking applies to all home football games except Homecoming. Tickets and passes from prior seasons are no longer valid.

Extra Math Practice
In an effort to support students entering the 2021/2022 school year. The math department is providing optional, but recommended math practice. We believe completion of the modules, 3-to-4 hours of total work, will help set students up for success. The following links will enroll students in a summer support class through Delta Math designed to refresh and strengthen skills necessary for math courses next year. All sections provide thorough feedback to students. Any student requesting help can contact dtpodolny@henrico.k12.va.us

Each year, Freeman’s PTSA relies on the Freeman Fund to pay for programs, teacher supplies and other activities that benefit each child and build a strong Freeman community. In previous years, the fund has provided items like classroom sets of books, microphones, microscopes and other teacher needs that extend beyond their budgets; events like We the People and All-Star Prom; and programs like Teacher Appreciation as well as the Angel Fund, which helps students and families in need. As we start the school year virtually, we anticipate the fund will help with unexpected expenses that arise from virtual learning. Even now, teachers are thinking about and anticipating needs for supplies and support that students may not have access to at home. We hope the Freeman Fund will be able to help with those efforts right out of the gate.
These funds are provided solely through the generosity of donations from the Freeman community. Please visit freemanptsa.org and click on “Donate to the Freeman Fund” to learn more. On behalf of the DSF PTSA, thank you!
