Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
Myself
What materials will you need for your project?
Cricut, heat press, IPad, and tools
What is your plan to create in this project?
A wrestling quote for my sweatshirt
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be my first cricut thing to put on my clothing
Today, I made the text how I wanted it to look and got it setup for print for tomorrow.
Today, I finished the quote and got it cut on the Cricut.
Today, I tried to peel the vinyl but after looking at it, I figured out that I cut it on the wrong side so I had to restart.
Today, I redid the quote and got it recut, this time the right side up.
Today, I peeled off the stuff I didn't need on there anymore.
I did it backwards again, the first time I cut it right but I peeled on the wrong side and the second time I cut it on the wrong side but peeled it on the right side. So today I cut it again and started peeling it.
Today I finished peeling it, got it pressed on, and finished my reflection. I also started making the same quote again just for my wrestling hoodie.
Heat Press Reflection
Using the Cricut and the Heatpress, I created a sports quote that I put on the back of one of my sweatshirts. I did it because I've never used either of those things before and it seemed simple, but it wasn't. I also made it because my sweatshirt was plain and I wanted something on it.
During this process, I learned how to use the Cricut and the Heat press. The cricut you have to make something on the computer and then load your thing into it and once it's done you peel off the extra. After that, you take it to the heatpress and after it's all done heating you lay it on where and how you want it and let it stay on for a little bit and then take off the cover and you're done.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project is tied to a knowledge constructor. It connects to the knowledge constructor because I watched videos on how to use the Cricut and used it, even though I was confused with the videos.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out how to load and cut the vinyl. I was able to do it for 2 reasons. First, Austin and LP showed me how to do it. Second, I watched some videos on how to do it.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change which color and sweatshirt I used. The reason why I would change it is because this year we got wrestling sweatshirts with no quotes. So I would've put my quote on the back of my wrestling sweatshirt with the same shade of yellow as the rest of it.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Design CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to design because I designed the wrestling quote for my sweatshirt and got it pressed on.
My project connects to careers in design with clothing. It connects because I designed the back of my sweatshirt and got it pressed on myself. Some jobs would be Graphic Designer, Textile Designer, etc.
