Reflection
Using cardboard, duct tape, sharpie, hot glue, cardboard scissors, and a cardboard saw, I created cardboard basketball because Emerson and I decided it would be really easy and simple so we can get it done, but we had a few other designs before we chose basketball, like skeeball, and hit-it-down. That is how we found out we wanted to build basketball
During this process, I learned that duct tape does not stick on cardboard as best as we thought it would. I also learned that it is very hard to make something that looks like basketball out of cardboard because it wouldn't stop falling over because we used cardboard that couldn't support the basketball.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative designer because I designed a project and built even though there were a lot of struggles. I also helped build and put it together and design and make the rules for it.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the tape to hold the back on and working with my partner becasue we thought a lot different than each other. I was able to do it by adding more tape and using hot glue. And by talking to my partner more so we could think more alike because we knew each other better and became friends.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the tape to hold the back on with hot glue and tape and maybe add more supports, and I would work more on the hoop to make it look more like a hoop, and make the balls more circular with a blow up basket ball. The reason why I would change it is because then the back wouldn't fall off every time we would check on it and the hoop would look better and the balls would actually be circular.

My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in automated machinery and creating things because we made and designed an arcade game.
