World Hunger

Access to Food

What are we dealing with?

Hunger!

It is a large problem around the world. Many kids go to bed hungry every night, especially in Africa. This is a big problem, but it can be solved easily. It is mostly caused by wars and unsupported farmers. In Haiti, they have to eat dirt cookies made from mud, butter, and salt.[2] Many children grow up malnourished. Women who are healthy can have healthy children that will live longer, but since good, healthy food is so expensive, it’s hard to get good food that can support people. This could greatly lower the population and happiness level of the earth. People in Africa and other starving countries deserve good lives.[1]

What is being tried?

People have donated billions to hunger-solving programs, but it's not the money that solves it, It’s the food. We need to grow more food and send it to starving families in Africa. I also looked at a chart showing places for clean water access, and There aren't many in Africa. For ways we could help this problem, we can donate money to factories producing pumps and ask them to send pumps and installment crews to places that need fresh, clean, water.

Who's Helping?

The FMSC organization works to solve hunger by giving people in places like Haiti bags of pre-made meals they can eat. They make the bags with vegetables, grains, and other delicious foods for the hungry. They send shipments of this food to bases in Africa and other places and they get distributed to schools and families. We need to support farmers in Africa, and find a way to stop the fights and wars going on. People of all ages can donate money to farmers and food programs to make sure food is being made so the hungry get what they need.

The following pictures show what the problems are. Some have data on them.
