GETTING ALONG:

"Everyone was super nice and welcoming." - Elis Worley

"It was fun to work on the website and to communicate with people from other places and it makes me wanna say, 'Let's go, first try!'" - Nicholas LeRose

"The people I've met know how to have fun, and celebrations like Diwali." - Hiba Khan

"The Edmodo connecting site allows us to communicate in many ways. This opportunity we have been given to speak with other students from another world and a separate experience is truly inspiring. I've never heard so many voices speak at once, sharing their opinion as we grow together to create something bigger than we ever have before. It's something different, to work in a space where everyone is longing to contribute and to place a stone as we build our website along with our community. The work ethic of the students I have met is heartening, as well as stimulating. In the GVC program connecting with other students has become a crucial task, sharing interests, telling stories, and supporting each other as we grow. Every student brings a slightly different mind filled with knowledge to share, it truly is something special. I have enjoyed my time in GVC and knowing we still have work ahead of us lifts my spirits to work even harder with the students around me. " - Millicent Strite

Creating Teams and Choosing Topics

We got to take a survey to decide what topic and team we would want to be on. The choices for the teams were Tech, Content, Communications, and Graphics. The big topic choices were Pollution, Discrimination, Caring for Others, and World Issues. We had to rank those topics by first choice, second choice, etc.

Work Time

WORKING IN CLASS:

Every day at Walton, students have twenty minutes at the beginning or end of ELA class to work on GVC. We have assigned tasks to do every week. We use 'Edmodo' to communicate with the people from different schools and make suggestions about their pages and work. At Toano Middle School, students are in an elective class to learn more about the world and to work with partners on the GVC website.

RESEARCHING:

At WMS in December and January, students worked on a research sheet in ELA class to find and record information. There were different links for us to use to look for fun facts about our topics! At TMS, students spent those months designing and creating projects about important issues to add to the GVC website. This way, the website has student opinions and their own voices.

ST. MARK'S SR. SEC. PUBLIC SCHOOL

JANAKPURI

A school with the right environment goes a long way in shaping the life of a student. Tremendous effort and sacrifice is involved in establishing and maintaining a high-quality institution. In the days when Janakpuri was taking shape, very few facilities were available. Farsighted Mr. T. P. Aggarwal visualized the need of an Educational Institution in this area, an institution which made its humble beginning more than 3 decades ago which today stands high with the reputation and glorious record for high-quality education and with a student strength of about 3000 and a faculty strength of 150. Toil, goodwill & struggle of many people have gone into its making. The school is affiliated to the CBSE Board and runs classes from I to XII. Children are offered all three streams - Humanities, Science & Commerce and are showing excellent results every year.

The school provides holistic learning wherein both scholastic & non-scholastic aspects are included. Children learn in a variety of ways through experience, making & doing things, experimentation, reading, discussions, asking, listening, thinking, reflecting, and expressing oneself.

In the year 1990, another St. Marks School was established in Meera Bagh, which was inaugurated by the then Lt. Governor of Delhi Air Chief Marshal Arjan Singh. It has a strength of over 3,500 students & is doing very well in all spheres.

In addition to this, a school exclusively for girls was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of NCT of Delhi, Ms. Sheila Dikshit on Jan. 19, 2000. Under the canopy of the school motto ‘Loyalty, Truth and Honour,’ the staff and the management of St. Mark’s School endeavor not only to enable students to compete but eventually shape them into wonderful human beings imbibing rich cultural heritage and keeping alive our traditions & a sense of responsibility towards the nation.

We met on Zoom to share ideas, make plans, and suggest edits.

Working with partners on Zoom helped us feel connected.
