There are many people who strive to make the world a better place. They help lots of people like people in minority's and under discrimination.


There are many people that are activists and they are the closest things to real life heroes we have. Everyday they pledge what they think.

Who is and who isn't a philanthropist. Well first lets start off by asking what is a philanthropist. A philanthropist is someone who has lots of money and donates regularly to charities.

There are many types of activists race wise like Hispanic, Asian, European, etc. But I am going to focus on African American activists. There are lots of African American activists, but I am only going to talk about the ones that are currently alive.


Bryan Stevenson is the person who made and is executive of the Equal Justice Initiative, which is a group that fights about the injustice in the criminal justice system. He was born in November 14, 1954, in Milton, Delaware. He graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes. He B .A. degree in philosophy at Easter University and got both his M .A. degree and J .D. at different Harvard places.


Opal Tometi is a human rights activist and a founder for the Black Lives Matter movement. She was born in 1984 and grew up with her parents who immigrated to Phoenix, Arizona, illegally. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors degree of Arts in History and a Masters of Arts in Communication. Opal entered the American Civil Liberty Union and worked on monitoring the stuff people who work on border control. She joined a Black Lives Matter group that helps to improve the lives of African Americans.
