Energy Resources

What's The Problem?

The problem is that as our population grows, we are demanding far more energy and we are running out. We get our energy from fossil fuels that dig up coal, oil, and natural gas, and those materials are non-renewable resources. Nonrenewable resources are resources that once we run out of them, it will take millions of years for the materials to come back. Now, don't get confused at the name of natural gas. Sure it has 'natural' in it, but it's formed by oil and coal, which are both non-renewable and nonnatural. It's only called 'natural' because there is methane in it, and methane is natural.

What Solutions Have Been Tried?

The main solution that has been tried to try and help with reducing our dependency on nonrenewable resources is energy resources. There are 5 main types of energy resources. Solar, geothermal, wind, biomass, and hydro energy. Solar energy is energy that comes from the sun, geothermal energy is energy that comes from the heat of the Earth, wind energy is energy that comes from the wind, biomass energy is energy that comes from the waste of plants and animals, and hydropower energy is energy that comes from water. All of these don't release pollution that causes global warming, (by the way, check out an article about global warming here.) so they're very useful. But, there are downsides. Solar energy costs panels that can cost a lot, geothermal energy can cost a lot, wind energy comes from wind turbines that can be really loud, biomass energy can cause heart attacks and cancer, and hydrothermal energy can cause earthquakes. Now that I'm thinking about it, biomass and hydrothermal energy might not have been a good invention.

How Did These Solutions Not Fix The Problem?

As you could imagine, these resources did not solve the problem. It actually made it even worse. From costing a lot of money, causing health problems, and causing earthquakes, these energy resources probably wasn't a good idea.

What Solutions Do We Recommend?

We recommend that you should just try and save power. You don't have to get energy resources, though it would help, but just save power. You can take shorter showers, wash your hands quicker, turn of the lights when you leave the room, air dry your clothes, turning down our thermostats, use a fan, (not the one that hangs from the ceiling) clean your filters, tape broken windows, don't use electronics as much as you usually do, and recycle.

What Companies Are Helping With Energy Resources?

There are many companies that are already helping with creating energy resources, but I'll just be listing the top 8.

1. Orsted A/S (DNNGY)

They produce wind turbines that use wind energy to power houses.

2. Iberdrola SA (IBDRY)

They produce solar panels that uses energy from the sun to power houses.

3. JinkoSolar Holding Co. Ltd. (JKS)

As you can probably guess by the name, they produce solar panels that uses energy from the sun to power houses.

4. Vestas Wind Systems A/S (VWDRY)

As you can also guess by the name, they produce wind turbines that use wind energy to power houses.

5. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (GCTAY)

They produce hydro energy that use water energy to power houses.

6. Brookfield Renewable Partners LP (BEP)

They also produce hydro energy that uses water energy to power houses.

7. First Solar Inc. (FSLR)

As you can guess by the name, they produce solar panels that use energy from the sun to power houses.

8. Canadian Solar Inc. (CSIQ)

As you can also guess by the name, they produce solar panels that use energy from the sun to power houses. So many companies sell solar panels!

There are many companies, as you can see, who sell energy resources to help protect our Earth, and I agree with them.

How Can We Help To Stop This Problem?

There are many ways that we can help with energy resources, and I'll just be listing some. But come up with some of your own and do them. The more people to help energy resources, the better.

You can adjust your day-to-day behaviors, replace your light bulbs, use smart power strips, install a programmable thermostat, use energy efficient appliances, reduce water heating expenses, install energy efficient windows, upgrade your HVAC system, weatherize your home, insulate your home, wash your clothes in cold water, replace your air filters, use your microwave instead of your stove, use natural light, and dress appropriately for the weather inside and outside.
