Create Your Story in Scratch!

Create a new project

Name it "3.5 Story" and share it


Start Here

  • Animate a story of your choice

    • Hint: use your 5 paragraphs story (3-5a) as a basis

    • You may alter your story as you animate it if needed

Requirements & Guidelines

  • Must have 3 scenes (different backgrounds)

    • use event broadcasting to change scenes

    • can be interactive, but make sure you inform the user of this

  • Must have 3 sprites with different costumes

    • hide everything not seen in first scene

    • "show" when it is their turn on screen

    • positions reset

      • hint, position a sprite with the mouse first, then drag the "set position" command out and it will automatically have correct x,y

  • When characters move, they must be animated: It's Alive

  • Conversation

    • each sprite must have at least 3 speaking lines each (9 total)

    • using event broadcasting to change scenes (can be interactive)

  • Must be at least 1 minute of story

  • Initialize everything starting with a title screen (with name)

    • everything resets with green flag click

    • story starts with user click or spacebar etc (clearly explained on title page)


  • Cannot crash; cannot stop in the middle; cannot have sprites error (disappear unexpectedly or "freak out" turning)

  • Check out the Resources page for free to use sounds

  • Must be school appropriate, and not infringe on copyright

    • i.e. if it would get a copystrike on YouTube it is not acceptable


  • Extra points for new techniques you us.

  • (bare minimum for 70%)These are for minimum 70%...Make it better for a better grade.

  • Challenge yourself to do more! Create your own sprites, sounds, or costumes!

  • On your Portfolio Google Site, embed your 3.5a story (add google doc to the page) and embed your 3.5b Scratch project.
