GES Families,
I have been so deeply touched by the outpouring of support and the incredibly kind words you have shared with me since Tuesday's announcement. Your thoughtfulness has meant more than I can possibly express during this time. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
While this transition brings a mix of emotions, I have complete faith that God has a perfect plan for Grapevine Elementary School and will bring the ideal leader to guide our campus moving forward. GES is an amazing and special place, and that is a direct reflection of the faculty and incredible community. I know that this spirit will continue to thrive.
As we begin Teacher Appreciation Week, please join me in thanking our fabulous staff for everything they do, day in and day out, to make GES such an extraordinary place. It is their hard work, creativity, and genuine heart for kids that provides an opportunity for our stars to shine each day.
We want to give a huge shout-out to our PTA Staff Appreciation Committee who will be spoiling the staff all week long with a variety of treats, meals and decorations all perfectly themed together in DISCO-TASTIC fashion!
We invite students to participate all week long, too, and here are some suggestions:
Monday - Share the love on Cinco de Mayo by giving staff members high "cincos" when you see them!
Tuesday - Wear your teacher's favorite color (staff favorited can be found on our website: https://www.gespta.org/teachers-favorites)
Wednesday - Wear your cowboy boots and give your teacher a compliment!
Thursday - Bring a drawing/letter to your teacher/staff member.
Friday - Wear neon colors and disco clothing!
All my best,
Mrs. Hale
Any student who hasn't completed Returning Student Registration by Friday, May 16th will be asked to return their student device and charger before the summer. This will ensure that we have all technology should a family not return to GES in the fall.
To register a returning student click here.
Families who are awaiting a transfer request should register for the campus they are currently zoned for. Transfer requests will be processed at a later date. To view attendance zones, visit our School Maps Online.
We are asking any families who know they are NOT returning to GES for the 2025-2026 school year to please complete the following GES Summer Withdrawal FORM. We need to be sure that we collect necessary technology from your student prior to the end of the year if you are planning to move.
This does not include students moving on to middle school.
GES has had a longstanding tradition of utilizing Glade Pool during Field Day! Such a special treat for our students due to the proximity to campus. The PreK-2nd grade students use the zero entry pool where they can all stand and play. The 3rd-5th graders use the large pool where they need to be proficient swimmers or wear a life jacket.
This requires a permission slip because students are leaving the GES campus to walk next door to the pool and parents must consent to swimming. An alternate activity will be provided for those who cannot swim. Be on the look-out for a bright blue paper coming home this week to provide permission for your child to participate!
Please ensure that you mark the permission slip if your child requires a life vest.
If you would like to avoid the long lines at the kiosk on Friday, May 16th, you can reserve your Fast Pass now by clicking HERE! Fast Passes will be available for pick-up in the vestibule starting Thursday, May 15th at arrival from 7:20-7:40am and dismissal 2:45-3:15pm. You can also pick them up on Friday, May 16th from 7:20-7:40am and then again starting at 8:30am in the vestibule and throughout the day Friday. Field Day begins at 8:45am in the Hall Johnson Circle Drive. Please provide both your FIRST and LAST name and your birthday the way it appears on your Driver's License. Fast Passes can be reserved until the end of the day on Tuesday, May 13th.
There are 2 opportunities before school gets out where students must request a school lunch in advance if they wish to purchase so our cafeteria staff can plan accordingly.
Our amazing PTA will be purchasing pizza for all students on Field Day. Students may still choose to still bring their own lunch on Field Day and/or purchase a bag lunch from the cafeteria if they don't prefer pizza or want additional food. Students have a picnic lunch in their classrooms on Field Day.
Students who want a bag lunch on Friday, May 16th need to reserve in advance. Please check your child's backpack for a bright yellow paper coming home this week!
On the Last Day of School, Thursday, May 22, students will be dismissed at 11:45am. If you would like your child to have a bag lunch before they go home and the opportunity to eat, please sign-up on the bottom half of the bright yellow paper.
Lunches will only be prepared for those who reserve them in advance.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our students and our kind neighbors in the surrounding streets, please be sure to utilize the designated campus parking lot and car lines as well as supervised crosswalks. Parking in the neighborhood, especially in marked "no parking" zones, unfortunately creates a potential safety hazard for residents should emergency vehicles need clear access. We have been informed by the Grapevine Police Department that they will be issuing tickets in these restricted areas. Your cooperation in keeping our students and community safe is much appreciated.
We are officially finished reading our Book Battle Books, and the competition is heating up! This week, we are deciding which book will move on to our final four... will it be Bubble Gum Bison Needs a Bath or A Unicorn, A Dinosaur, and A Shark Were Riding a Bicycle? Stay tuned to find out!
It's almost time for all those books to come back! Mrs. Wahpekeche will email notices to parents of what books your child has on Wednesday, May 7th. If you receive a notice, please help your child finish their library books and return them quickly to our library. if you have ANY books on your home bookshelves with GES barcodes on the front, please send them back to school. Any child that returns their books by May 9th will receive a surprise from Mrs. Wahpekeche! Thanks for your help!
We hope you all will be able to join us for your child's Success Ceremony! This is a long-standing GES tradition. It is a special time for students in each grade level to share what they are most proud of learning that school year. Prior to the ceremonies, all GES students will reflect on their growth with their teachers; and then, the students will decide something they are most proud of learning to be shared at the ceremony.
Below are the times for all Success Ceremonies and celebrations. We will open the doors 30 minutes before each grade level ceremony for check-in and have a place for families to wait in the cafeteria prior to opening classrooms.
This is a live Google Calendar that we will keep updated throughout the year with campus activities. Click the calendar to open it up so you can switch to week or month view and look at future dates. Please check back frequently for new additions.

It's time to begin planning and preparing for the 2025-2026 school year! Registration is now open for all new and returning students. We ask that you complete returning student registration before May 16. The earlier you register, the better we can plan as campuses are staffed based on registration numbers. Registering now helps GCISD avoid last-minute hiring or staff relocations when the school year begins.
The following links will help you access registration documents:
While families can register all year long, your quick attention helps us in planning and preparing for the 25-26 school year and ensures a smooth start for all!
Our students in K-5 will begin taking their end of year iReady assessments this week. We cannot wait to see all the growth and progress our students have made since the beginning of the year! Students who meet their Target growth in Reading will earn a token for the Book Vending Machine and students who meet their Target growth for math will earn a token for the Toy machine!
Class pictures are now available on the Glamourcraft website. If you did not receive an email, you can use the website and the code in the image to the left to purchase your child's class picture. They will be mailed directly to you.
Field Day will be Friday, May 16! We hope you save the date and can join us at some point during the day. Schedules will be sent out as well as permission slips in May.
Coach Basil would love your support in signing up to Volunteer for our event! You must have a completed background check to sign-up.
It's that time of year -- GES College & Career Event time! If you are willing to volunteer your time on Tuesday, 5/13 during this opportunity for our GES stars, please complete this Presenter Form by Monday, April 28th! Whether it be 30 minutes for your Star's class only or his/her grade level or the entire day, we would appreciate your time in showcasing your college experience and/or career choice/passion!
Spread the word and the included link to family, friends, or community members that could support our college and career awareness, too!
You're invited to bring a friend and attend the GCISD DAC Potluck.
Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
