GES Families,
This week our students in 3rd-5th grades will begin their annual STAAR tests. This means we will have a closed campus to all visitors. We cannot have outside guests on these days as anyone inside the building during testing hours must be security trained. Students will be testing on the following dates:
Wednesday April 9th - 3rd-5th Reading
Tuesday, April 22nd- 5th Science
Tuesday, April 29th - 3rd-5th Math
We know our students and staff have been preparing all year for these assessments and we know they are going to do an amazing job! Thank you for encouraging your child if they are in a testing grade and ensuring a great night of a sleep, a healthy breakfast, a healthy snack, and a water bottle. It's most important to us that our students simply try their very best. We appreciate your partnership in helping students prepare from home.
Our testing schedule does impact our PreK-2nd grade students as they may be going to their specials classes at a different time of day on Wednesday. This allows our 3rd-5th graders the opportunity to have a longer instructional block first thing in the morning to complete their testing. Lunches for all grade levels will remain at the same time. Recess times for 3rd-5th grades have been adjusted around specials and lunch.
Thank you to everyone who donated snacks or signed up to donate snacks for the teacher hospitality table. We love to be able to provide a little extra caffeine and snacks for them, too, during the long testing hours.
I am so proud of our students and staff. Our stars are ready to shine!
All my best,
Mrs. Hale
We want to give a huge thank you to our PTA leaders and all the teacher and parent volunteers who helped make our STEAM Fair a huge success! Heather Cato, our STEAM Fair coordinator took the event to new heights this year with the inclusion of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Congratulations to all our student presenters who did an incredible job sharing their projects. It was a great night of learning and exploring!
Friendly reminder to please allow time for your child to eat breakfast and consume their food before they come into school or drop them off at 7:20 to allow ample time for a cafeteria breakfast purchase. Students should not be dropped off with their breakfast in hand and expected to eat it when they arrive in class. We have seen an increase in students carrying in bags of donuts and expecting to eat them in class. This is distracting to the classroom community. Thanks for your help in this regard!
The top fundraising homeroom classes in each grade level from our Fun Run will have their pizza and popsicles party this Friday, April 11. We're hoping for nice weather to be able to sit out on the patio. Students are welcome to still bring a lunch if they choose or purchase from the cafeteria.
Our PBIS Committee introduced a new student incentive in January to try to encourage students and families to arrive on time each morning. On the first Tuesday of the month, we are recognizing the top grade level in K-2 and 3-5 who have the least percentage of student tardies. These grade levels receive extra recess time.
For the third month in a row, our winners are 2nd grade and 4th grade! Winners will be announced on KGES Tuesday morning.
We are repeating our Week 5 books because many students didn't have a chance to listen to the books or vote while Mrs. Wahpekeche was out.
Our books for Week 5 will surely be a hit, because they feature Officer Weber and Mr. Revels! We know that sometimes your child might miss a book battle, or that your child might even want to share these books with younger siblings. Here is a link . Just click on the book covers to watch. Enjoy!
Next Tuesday, April 15 is Class Picture Day. Glamourcraft will be on campus taking photos of each homeroom class from 8-10am. Families will have opportunity after pictures are taken to see the class pictures and purchase if they would like.
Please note, if families have not given permission in Skyward for their child to be photographed, they will be omitted from the class pictures.
Friendly reminder that Friday, April 18 is a student and staff holiday.
The final Principal Book Club of the year will be on Wednesday, April 23. Orginally we had reserved this Wednesday, but Mrs. Wahpekeche had the opportunity to attend the a conference this week for librarians and will be off campus. We are excited to offer a new date since this is our last opportunity for the school year.
The topic will be Robotics with a grade level range of 1st-3rd grade. If you are interested in attending with your child, please RSVP HERE so we know how many families to expect.
This is a live Google Calendar that we will keep updated throughout the year with campus activities. Click the calendar to open it up so you can switch to week or month view and look at future dates. Please check back frequently for new additions.
The Dad's Club is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting an End of Year Campout at Camp Burnett in Southlake May 17 - 18, and we’d love for all GES families to join us in celebrating our school and community! Find all the details and RSVP using this link: https://forms.gle/Jyks5Db4q4zqYHj87

The deadline to add your customized yearbook pages is April 8th. Don't delay ordering your 24 - 25 GES yearbook! If you have any yearbook questions, please reach out to Angela at yearbook@gespta.org.
GES PTA will be having a Spirit Day at Tifa Chocolate and Gelato in Glade Parks on April 29th! Mark your calendar to stop by after school for delicious treats!
GCISD Families: Start your engines by registering your student for the 2025-2026 school year before May 16. The earlier you register, the better we can plan as campuses are staffed based on registration numbers. Registering now helps GCISD avoid last-minute hiring or staff relocations when the school year begins.
Here’s how to cross the finish line:
While families can register all year long, let’s cross that finish line together before summer to make next year a smooth ride!
It's that time of year -- GES College & Career Event time! If you are willing to volunteer your time on Tuesday, 5/13 during this opportunity for our GES stars, please complete this Presenter Form by Monday, April 28th! Whether it be 30 minutes for your Star's class only or his/her grade level or the entire day, we would appreciate your time in showcasing your college experience and/or career choice/passion!
Spread the word and the included link to family, friends, or community members that could support our college and career awareness, too!
Calling all new PreK and Kinder Stars for the 2025-2026 school year! We would love for our future star students to be able to come see a little of our campus and be adopted into the GES Star Family. Students and families will take a short self-guided tour of the campus where they can see the gym, art classroom, library, PreK and kinder classrooms, and of course the playground! Come and meet new families who will also be coming to GES next fall.

Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Available March 3-31. Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
